Alezand burst through the top door that led to the roof top of the building he and the mage he rescued had sought refuge from pursueing guards. He glanced over the edge of the shop, keeping low to the surface to not be seen. He watched as troops were turning the place upside down a block and a half away. They would be hard pressed to catch up now, but Alezand knew better than to assume that they were in the clear yet.
He turned back to Alenya. "Lets go, stay low and move when I move..." He instructed her as he moved over to a plank of wood that was about ten feet long and slid it as quietly as he could over to the far edge. He watched the search party for a moment when he finally slid the board to span the distance of the next building. He took Alenya's hand again and they approached the edge cautiously. He watched the persuers and when He was satisfied that enough of them were looking away, he sent her along the span.
After she made it across, he soon followed. He crawled up beside her, smiled and turned back to see if they had been spotted...

((can I join?)) Reno looked around. yes, there were people on the roof, he could hear them now. drawing his short sword and a throwing star, he turned to face the dark figures that were approaching him. Stepping out of the shadows, he confronted the two figures. "who might you be? Speak fast, for there are eyes and ears everywhere." The moon's pale light, which was barely enough to separate it from the darkness around them, helped Reno's suspicions. this silent pair was either on the run or trying to find something. then reno heard the shouts and saw the lights of the search party. yep... they're on the run looking back at the two, he spoke again. "why are you on the run? any particular reasons? There's a blockade up ahead, a scary one, with archers on the roof and everything. perhaps they are looking for you?"

Alezand's harsh voice cut through the evening air icily as well as the swift sound of his sword clearing the scabbard, "I am a knight transporting this mage to safety. You can either aid us or get out of our way, but I do not recommend for your health in standing in my way." He held the blade casually, but nothing betrayed in his voice that he was joking or merely out for a stroll. Alezand was a guardian of good, and he took his one and only job to the utmost seriousness.
"What have you, are you friend or foe?" Alezand asked, bringing the silver blade to bear on the still somewhat shrouded figure standing in their path. "I have no time for you, and if you persist to vex me and my charge here, I shall make short work of you." And he meant it, his blood pounding in his ears, adrenaline pumping through him as the smooth calm of a professional soldier stilled him...

Reno chuckled, and lowered his sword, and resheathed it. "good man, put up your sword." Walking into a patch on the roof where his features could be discerned, he showed the other figure the palms of his empty hands, a gesture of peace. "I am trying to help, as a man was caught recently trying to do the same as you are now. Apparently, there is a lady with a scythe..." reno shuddered. "It wasnt pretty." looking over his shoulder, he dropped into a crouch, narrowly avoiding an arrow that flew his way. "its not good to be here, espicially right not... so close to that barricade." quickly scuttling behind the roof's chimney, he motioned for the two to get down as he pulled the arrow that almost hit him out of the roof. "anyone got a bow?"

((OOC: sry, I've been gone!)) Alenya waved her hand, as if grasping thin air. A long bow appeared in her pale hand. "Your help would be greatly appreciated. I get the feeling that the danger for my kind is worse than i reckoned. I am starting to believe my time has come to retire to Aesir. But not without a fight if necessary." She tossed the bow to the other warrior. "I sense we won't be alone for long. Unless we can get farther from that barricade. Their intentions make me nervous for all our well-beings." She turned to look at the approaching mob; it was like a creeping wall of fire torches ready to swallow any mage in its path. She swallowed and hid her fear behind a look of fierceness. "I will have to rely on you two for a plan, for I expect you both know the city better than I. Much has changed since I was first here."

Reno reached out, caught the bow, and laughed quietly. "I know nothing of the arts of archery; I am just a simple thief." Reno also looked down at the mob of approaching people. "No worries, they cannot see us. I recommend that we head back the way opposite the crowd, so they do not expect us. We have until they get to the barricade, as someone will notify them that there are people on the rooftops. I say, we head for the walls, where they are the shortest. We cannot go the way of the gates, especially because they aren't opened at all during the night, not unless there is an event of the utmost importance." sighing, he ran his hands over the arrow. “Let’s get off this accursed rooftop, as our silhouettes will give us away immediately." Uncoiling a rope that was strung across his shoulders, he pulled a grappling hook from his pack and tied it on the end of the rope with a noose-like slipknot. Tugging the knot to make sure it was tight; he fastened the hook to the roof and let the rope down. it touched the ground on the other side of the house, the side that the mob was not on. Pulling out a pair of gloves, he slipped them on, threw two pairs of gloves to the man and his lady friend. "no time for instructions, time to move!" as he said this, he threw a small, brown package over the rooftop, and it sailed into the crowd, a string leading out of it hissing with a flame. "Come on, get down here now!" No sooner than he ducked out of sight, someone called out a harsh command. "Night Arrows! Now!" the twang and whistle of bowstrings firing arrows filled the air. As this was happening, the small package, which was really a bundle of fireworks, exploded. Reno, already on the other side of the building, whistled as he saw the sky light up. "Whoops... those might have been the wrong ones... thought i used the smoke bomb..." nonetheless, he pulled out a throwing star and kept a wary eye out for foes.

Alezand somersaulted down to the ground below as the thief let down a line. He stood guard as the two descended from their perch. He was not happy. Either way, they were destined for confrontation. Though the alleyway was his element, especially on this dark evening, if the rooftops were crawling with troops, then the streets were most certainly heaving with guards. Alezand was more than a match for any guard that came across their path, but he was also protecting a mage and a thief in tow. They were fighters, for sure, but they were his charge nonetheless.
"Come, we mustn't dally. I maybe itching to sharpen my blade on something, but I prefer to choose better grounds and odds." He said shortly in a hushed voice. The shadows swirled about them and a fog was rolling in. Good, his battleground advantage improved. He could hear the shouts and the sound of pounding greaves nearby up the street. They were not approaching, but they were too close for comfort while they were still in the open. "Keep those smoke bombs handy, Reno, the darker it is, the more unstoppable I become in swordsmanship."

"Geez," Alenya sliently cursed as the fireworks shot up, showing thier position. She could see the milling figures of the enemy, the cityfolk, pointing and shouting and taking up arms. She took a second to marvel at the colors and the strange romantisized scene before leaping down, her hand on the line for security. She landed beside Alezand and creeped behind him, close enough to see his back but far enough from a possible blade slash.
She fastened her cloak tighter to drive out the chilly fog. She grinned in spite of herself. This is the type of thing she had waited for. In all her mage training, she had learned to deal with dangerous scenarios like this but none were ever put into practice. Now, she muttered a curse and her eyesight strengthened, piercing through the clouds to see the tentatively approaching guards. A pair of guards on her left began to get to close. "Finite Andarna," she whispered under her breath. A loud crack echoed in the alley and the two yelled dumbly as they froze in place. She grinned again, proud of herself, but not enough to put her off her guard.

((heh.. the fireworks shot off in the crowd, on the other side of the building we descended from... oh well.... BTW, Are my posts confusing? because i have been told before that they need proper spacing... but i am constantly forgetting to space them..))
Reno sighed. "well, at least there are more where that came from... thank you shadow's alchemy..." He pulled out a few small packs, each with a black label that read: 'cloud' in bold black print. he handed two to Alezand and one to the female. "use them if you wish, i have many more. just cut them before or as you throw them, unless you can throw them with enough force that they bust open on the ground." Nonetheless, he looked around. there was a figure with a bow on the roof, and reno threw a Shuriken, which flew just right, landing itself in the enemy bowman's chest. The surprised archer lost his balance and fell forward, grabbing the rope that Reno had slid down just in time to save his fall. but reno had the other end of the rope, and began to swing and jerk it around like a fishing line. "Get. Off. My. ROPE! He jerked it one last time and the grappling hook broke it's hold, sending the archer spiraling to the ground. Reno winced at the impact, but cautiously walked over and retrieved his Shuriken, wiped it off, then returned his attention to the situation. "were are we headed my friend? I might be able to get us there faster, if possible."

OCC, Naw ur posts r fine.
IC: Alezand crept low, for ahead was two soldiers, their backs turned to the group. In the crawling fog he rose up silently behind the first and brought him down just as quietly with a blow from the hilt of his sword on the head. The other spun around quick to face the perpetrator whom had dispatched his partner, but only found darkness behind him. The flat of the blade struck true at the base of his skull, knocking the troop out cold.
He signaled the other two to come along. "As much as I enjoyed that trick, try something a little quieter next time, " He said to Alenya. "And I figure we should make hast to the Alter. The city aroused like this, there will be no place safe for us to stay within its walls. We must reach Aesir." He replied to Reno. "Unless you have a better idea?" He suggested. He darted down another alley. There was a muffled yelp reached the ears of the other two as Alezand again rendered another troop incapacitated...

Reno Nodded. "no problem. next time Ill make sure that it is a smoke parcel and not fireworks. I'm sure that they are frightened right now though, so they will need guards to go there and prevent a riot. But seriously, we need to get moving. I have a feeling that we will run into danger before the sun rises. We don't want to hit that blockade either, and it stretches through the entire town. Luckily, the one up a head isn't entirely finished. We will need a dense fog, some throwing devices that are good enough to destroy the torches, and stealth to be able to get through unchallenged. Unless you prefer bloodshed of course." Reno shook is head. "but the bloody way is the one that has the highest chance of us getting killed... i think..."

"Brilliant ideas, although I believe the noise comment was directed at me," Alenya smiled. "However...I suppose we should all be a bit more careful. I don't really have a death wish at the moment." She turned to Alezand. "I've never actually tried that in earth or in real life. I had no idea it would be that loud. But, no matter. Let's get going. Incanto Nubius," she muttered another spell and two dense clouds of fog spouted from her palms. She waved her hands slowly, allowing the fog to spread so that it would mar anyone's vision save her and her two companions. "That one I have practiced and used numerous times. Bloodshed or no, this fog will last and cover us until we get where we need to be." She nodded to the men. "I am all for the non-bloodshed move, but whatever path will get us to our destination faster is the one for me."

"Then we shall press on then. Speed is of the essence." Alezand said in a hush, his eyes surveying the next street before they crossed. He began to step out into the light of the moon, glaring through the fog as it filled the space, when a squad of enemy soldiers nearly bumped into him as they rushed off to some position. Acting fast he hollered to Reno, "Go! Keep moving, I will catch up. Stay hidden." He instructed as he ducked a blade aimed at his head. "It's that persistent sliver that plagues Lord Vidar. Get him!" One of the sergeants cried, bu the next swing was stopped dead by Alezand's blade meeting it firmly.
Alezand landed a snap kick to the assailant's chin and spun to face the rest of the pack. His cloak billowed in the evening breeze, swirling with the increasing fog. He raised his sword to a high guard and stepped deliberately towards the enemy. He struck swiftly, his sword sweeping low and connecting with a sickening sound with the troops right knee. The guard went down on the other knee and was enable to stop the back slash as Alezand twirled his weapon, its blade flashing as it glanced another weapon in its arc. He brought it down hard on the next opponents head, and he crumpled like tossed paper. Alezand glanced around quickly to find that his remaining two foes and dodged the incoming blow aimed at his midsection. He met each following attack in turn and pressed on the initiative. He gained the upper hand and brought the soldier down hard. He turned and noticed the the last remaining troop just standing there, rooted to the spot, guard held firm. Alezand turned, and with a swirl of his cloak, he disappeared into the shroud. The guard looked around nervously, searching for his foe, but he never saw the elegant sword swing out of the darkness and render him unconscious.
Alezand checked to see that reinforcements were not arriving and proceeded on to meet back up with the other two. He disappeared as easily as he came within the night and fog, swiftly and silently sprinting up the alley...

napeir sat up from a rather uncomfortable sleep on the roof tops, a clatter of some sorts was going on down in the street. He peered down to see a man kill a guard in the moon light, surrounded by many others dead. The man whipped around and into an alley way. " what was that about" napeir getting up " i got to see what the meaning of that was, even though he took out the enemy" Napeir then sat up and jumped from the roof tops, following silently.

Reno looked around, wondering where Alezand was, as there were a bunch of guards who were gathering around the edge of the fog bank. They were muttering and shifting about, facing every direction with swords and bows at the ready. Reno looked out from the alley that He and the lady were in, cursing silently. rummaging through his pack, he found three things. A grappling hook and rope, a package of explosives, and throwing stars. turning to the young lady he indicated the rope, then the rooftop. "how do you feel about risking the rooftops again? there isn't any way that we'd be able to get through those guys, even with Alezand's help... Hmmm....can you push things, giving them an acceleration boost while they are in midair? if so, i think that we could throw some explosives out there, to the other side of the street, and escape onto the roof over here? they would probably be too distracted by the explosion to look around... if they were even able to see afterwards..." he laughed, as the flash bangs he carried had ten times the flash of Shadow's usual ones.
