Exploring the Market

[Relm]

Relm was wandering the streets, her eyes stopping every so often on a store that would interest her.
People walked past her,ignoring her completely. She didn't really look much. Her clothes were a simple black, and a bit too big for her.They were men's clothes of course; it was what she always wore.
She stopped to look in a shop. It was full of random Jewelry. She walked around, her footsteps light on the hard wood floor. She stopped to look a a thin silver bracelet, smiling slightly. It had a small charm attached to it, a silver unicorn. Although she was a tomboy, looking at jewelry.

"Ah!I see you are interested in this beautiful little bracelet!" said the shopkeeper from behind her, causing her to jump slightly. "Is it for a young lady that has caught your attention?Hmm?Or maybe even a girlfriend?" He asked her.
Relm blushed.This was usual for her, people always assumed she was a boy. 'Maybe if i was more feminine...' she thought to herself.
"Ah...No..Um.....I'm...Actually a girl..." She said, tugging nervously at the hem of her shirt. "And..i was..just looking.." she added hastily, nodding slightly.She couldn't have bought the bracelet anyways, One; It would stick out to much. Two; She didn't have enough money to be buying jewelry.

The shopkeeper seemed a little baffled by this, then simply shrugged and walked off to talk to another person who had entered the shop.
Relm sighed,her head in her hands. "Thats what i get for looking like a boy..." she muttered to herself.

[Shadow]

Shadow was leaning against the wall on the street, watching and waiting as usual. Occasionally, he would blend into the crowd for a few seconds, but he would always return to his spot, smiling and tossing a small object in his hand a few times before hiding it in his cloak. after one of these trips, when he returned to his post, there was a soldier there, who was looking rather cross. Shadow cocked his head to the side, and they exchanged a few words, mainly pleasantries, until the soldier brought up that shadow was a thievery suspect, and had just been witnessed with something that shouldn't be in his possession. But the man never finished, as shadow kicked him into the wall and ran off, darting into the first open store. it was a jeweler's shop. shadow scowled, but decided it would do. lowering his hood, he looked around, eying the jewelry with expertise. he reached out and examined a diamond necklace. With a soft sigh, he put it down. "nope, not real." he smiled as the shopkeeper bustled up to him angrily. with an exasperated voice, he explained to shadow that the only things found in his shop were absolutely real and genuine, seeing as they were inspected by the shopkeeper himself.. Shadow laughed. "well, maybe you should examine this necklace, it seems to have slipped your inspection." Shadow walked away as the man took the necklace in his hands, and put it up to the light. Of course, shadow was just playing a jest on the man, he had no idea at all of what the necklace in his pocket was made of, other than it was shiny, looked expensive, and would make a poor, honest family very happy. As he resumed looking around the store, he almost bumped into a young man. He bowed. "so sorry young ma-" he looked up. "you aren't a guy." he laughed. "my double apologies miss. My name is Shadow." he looked at the shop keeper, who was still examining the copy of the necklace that shadow had in his pocket. with an indiscreet wave of his finger, it dissolved in the shopkeeper's hands, turning to a black dust. the man cried out in shock, but decided that it was better not to draw attention to himself. it was all shadow could do to stop himself from laughing. he tried to keep a straight face as he turned back to the young woman he had mistaken for a man. "That is what a bad day looks like..." He had a hand in the pouch with the real necklace in it, and as he pulled his hand out, it showed for a brief second, before he closed the pouch. looking up at the woman in front of him, he smiled. "what is your name, if you don't mind me asking?"

[Relm]

Relm was smiling slightly, amused.She hadn't been paying much attention to the man until the shop keeper had started to talk about how the necklace was real.
She stopped fiddling with her hem as the man spoke to her, the smile dissapearing from her face. Her eyes caught a glimpse of the necklace before he closed his pouch.
"My name is Relm, And i do believe you are one of the first people i have ever met that has realised i'm not a man." She stated simply. "Do you usually Stress out people like this?" she asked, pointing to the shop keeper, "Or is today a special occasion?" she added.She never thought to ask his name, because she was just slow like that.

[Shadow]

Shadow laughed. "well, it allows me to live another day, and this was given to him by a pawn shop anyways, for not even one thirtieth of the price he is selling it for." Shadow smiled. "good to meet you Relm, My name is Shadow." he laughed again. "I almost mistook you for a young man, but years of people-watching and crowd browsing will give you not only sharp reflexes, a good memory and good eyes, but it will show you all types of men and women that walk the earth." he shook his head. "It would be easy to take you for a man, well, more of a boy, but its because you aren't dressed like a girl, but that is something that you make exceptions for when you are a warrior. Which I presume you are..." He looked back at her. "you are a warrior, no?"

[Relm]

Relm smiled slightly again and nodded, Her hir falling slightly over ne side of her face. "It is a pleasure to meet you Shadow.."She replied. She wasn't really used to talking to anyone, She was an expert at avoiding conversations. But today she had let her guard down, 'Must remember not to next time...' she thought.
"I am a warrior. But even if i wasn't, i would still dress like this. I don't have the figure for womens clothes. So when i do dress as a woman, i just look like a man who is cross dressing..." she said,laughing quietly.

[Shadow]

Shadow shook his head. "to each their own." He shrugged, but continued on. "well, just saying you are a warrior does a whole lot to help me...I was wondering more of what field... Ah never mind. there might be some trouble around here soon, espicially if the shop keeper figures out what really happened..." he laughed nervously. she seems like she dosent want to talk... oh well... he began to slowly move away, watching the shopkeeper, who was eyeing shadow wearily and distrustfully. Looking back at Relm, he nodded his head. "I need to get out of here, that guy's getting suspicious..." he looked back at the shopkeeper wearily, ready to run.

[Relm]

Relm glanced at the shop keeper, "Thanks..i could get in trouble by association..." she said sarcastically; rolling her eyes. She calmly started walking towards the door, "If i get in any trouble because of you, i am going to get sooooo mad..." she said, glancing from Shadow to the shop keeper.Relm didn't want to get in trouble, so she assumed it would be best to stay near shadow. 'If he's managed to get away with this kind of stuff before, then obviously it would be safer with him rather than standing around in a store' she thought.
"You seem alot stronger than i am, So i'm going to follow you around." She said,grinning innocently. "A lady shouldn't be walking around on her own...There are too many theives around..." she added, trying her best not to laugh.
She was the furthest thing from a lady, and she really didn't have anything worth stealing. But she didn't really want to be left all on her own.

[Shadow]

Shadow looked at relm Quizically. "Uh... I guess you can follow me around... Just try not to get in my way, allways keep your eyes open, mouth shut, and most of all, ears open." He laughed. "yeah, something like that." shaking his head, he walked out of the store. Beckoning for her to follow, he looked around. "so, are you thinking of becoming a thief? I can show you many things... most of them secrets that even the instructors dont know." He laughed. "and, I can show you what ten years of careful guard and saving can look like." He loked around in the crowd. "now, remeber, allways keep your eyes and ears open. Look for trouble before it hapens, so you can avoid it." He laughed. "Just follow my lead unles i say otherwise, or unless you feel that I could be wrong." shaking his head, he turned back to her. "so, what do you want to do? I can prett much get any where, as long as it isnt under extreme guard, like the castle."

[Relm]

Relm was smiling slightly as she followed Shadow."I don't think it is possible for me to keep my mouth shut once i start talking..." She said, glancing around ther street at the various people."At the moment i am an Honest girl, never stolen anything in my life.Don't ever plan to either. But who knows...The future can sometimes be unpredictable..." She said, reffering to his question about her becoming a theif.She shoved her hands in her pockets and glanced around once more,"I didn't really have any plans when i decided to come here..i was just going to sort of wander. Walk in to any shops that caught my attention..." Relm said.
She looked back over her shoulder, at the store they had just come out of. The shop keeper seemed to have forgotten about them, as he was now talking to a rich looking couple."Although if we do go into any more stores, please try and keep the stealing minimal...I really don't want any trouble.." she said, laughing quietly.

[Shadow]

Shadow shook his head. " you need money to suvive in this world. and the easyest way to get it is by honest work." Shadow laughed. "or, honest dishonest work. Are you hunrgy?" He pulled out a purse of money. Tossing it in his hand, he walked over to the food stands, browsing the selection. "Hmmm.... I think Ill have... one of those." Shadow pointed to a large, pork and cheese sandwich. handing the money to the shopkeeper, he turned to relm. "would you like something?"

[Relm]

Relm followed him, thinking about what he had said about 'honest dishonest' work. Her thoughts were interupted as he asked if she wanted something. She shook her head. "No thanks...I ate a huge breakfast this morning..." she said cheerily, smiling.It was a lie of course, she hadn't really eaten breakfast.But she wasn't all that hungry, and she didn't really want to annoy Shadow any more than she already had. "I might get something later on if i feel hungry.." she added, nodding. She looked along the food stands at the many different varieties of food. Some she had eaten before, some she had never seen or heard of.
She removed her right hand from her pocket and picked up a furry looking fruit. She raised her eyebrows slightly, her Mum had tried to give this to her once when she was younger. She smiled slightly as she remembered all the fuss she had kicked up. She put it down again and turned to face Shadow,"I never knew there were so many types of foods!" she said, smiling happily.

[Shadow]

Shadow shrugged, his mouth full of sandwich. swallowing, he wiped his mouth before speaking. "yeah... and to think, that there is so many more different kinds, outside of this city's selection." Shaking his head, he finished the sandwich and took a swig from his flask. "Ah, well, you cant have everything in life..." He looked around. "so..." he put his flask away and looked around. "How long have you been in this town? seen anything interesting?"

[Relm]

"It's my third or fourth day..Hard to keep track..." Relm replied, shrugging slightly. "I lived here with my parents when i was younger, but when i was 7 my brother took me to see other city's...." she said,smiling as she remembered the house that they had once lived in.
"I come back every year around this time...And i don't usually stay all that long...But...Maybe this year will be different, Maybe i will finally settle down." She said,now grinning. "Apart from you stealing, i havn't really seen anything all that interesting..." she added,laughing quietly. "How about you?How long have you been around here?" She asked him.

[Shadow]

Shadow streched "all my life. well, this is my base of operations anyways." laughed. "i have been almost all around the world as we know it. Ah... the memories." He sadly shook his head, but looked back up after a few seconds. "And before that, my parents owned a tailor's shop, it was the best in the land." He sighed. "then that idiot had to come and destroy my family, only to be killed by little twelve year old me." SHadow laughed. "or so my scattered memores tell me." He sighed. "I got my revenge though... But im still paying for it..."

[Relm]

'wow..killing someone at such an early age....He must be pretty messed up in the head...' she thought absent mindedly. "Why have you travelled almost all around the world?" She asked, trying her best to change the subject. She didn't like talk of killing, even though she had trained with a sword she had never hurt anyone with one, let alone killed someone.She pushed her hair away from her eyes and looked around once more, waiting for shadow to reply.
