Ryan grasped hold of the dagger, and ran it across his finger, causing blood to come forth. "Not good enough," He said, "Here is where it should be." He pointed the dagger at his very heart, and carved a holy shape into his chest, right upon where his heart lay. He then cried, "May the blessed Lord have mercy upon my tainted flesh, that it may not corrupt my soul." His chest let fall blood, though not quite enough to be fatal. He held the dagger up, still keeping on one knee, "My offering to God lay in my hands. May His gracious self forgive me." Blood covered the dagger as it lay in Ryan's hands. "And as for this heathen, do you see how she makes a mockery of your command? She has acted as you have told me to do. Such is her guile! She would feign faith, but it was I who suggested my flesh, so I shall go farther." With that, he proceeded to cut the same emblem in each of his limbs, and on the other side of his chest. He covered himself in emblems, blood issuing forth from each. He kept the dagger, and handed it back to Vidar. "Did you see the way she threw this holy tool? She obvioulsy could not stand to hold it, the heathen!"

"Blasphemy!" Insidia shouted toward Ryan. "You take God so selfishly, as if he is only your God as if no sacrifice but yours is what is good enough! I respect my body as such a temple as the Lord's as well, you do not, you wanted to defile me! Why must you persist, my pain is deeper than you can see! I feel the holiness of that blade, it's power too much for me to hold in blood. It is the king's blade, my blood should not stain it so! I am not worthy to hold it any longer!" She argued, Insidia' right hand held tightly over the wound which bled warm crimson over her. "Such mockery be that you are not holy enough to see my sacrifice for the same God!"
Her black eyes preyed upon Vidar, on her knees, she fell forewords, the lack of blood nearly fainting her. Groaning, Insidia moved herself closer to the king bringer herself to his feet. With just barley a manage, she knelt at a height, her head hanging downward.
"I bow for you and the Lord. I beg you to see my my arm, this mark, one of a man's harsh grasp..." She whispered through her sobs to him. "Great king, I am at your service, I shall do anything you wish to prove my truth, if there may be more than the markings left, to show, I will. Why must it be that his word as a church goer be stronger than what you do see?. If you can not trust my words, what I have done, because I am a woman, then let me die. I never knew it to be a sin if I were born so. I were raised that God loves all of whom he has created, including the woman, that not all, such as the virgin mother, do not sin. People found her with lies that she were untouched, what if she were executed so falsely, would it then be that the coming of the Lord would never have happened? If the virgin mother were killed, falsely accused because she were a woman, that her words could not be true, were killed for it, Jesus Christ, my lord, would not have been born into this world...Leave me to die here if that is what you choose..."
Insidia's eyes closed, her last tears pouring down, her upper body fell over again. She lie on the ground, her eyes slowly blinking, knowing this indeed was the truth, the cut she made, may end her life A small pool of blood was beneath her, growing in size with the moment.

Tori stepped up beside Vidar. "Sir. I believe my intuition can tell me which is lying. My heart tells me that both lie, but him especially. And for that, there is no repentance!" With that, Tori raised her scythe, and with a single stroke, removed the head of the man as he stood before them. His head rolled along the ground, and came to a halt at Insidia's feet. "You had better not lie again, woman, or that shall be your fate!" Tori pointed her scythe at Insidia, and made sure she understood. She then pulled her scythe back and rested it upon the ground, avoiding Ryan's blood as it issued forth from his dead body.

Vidar was at first shocked by the reactions of both of them, as they had positively leaped upon the opportunity to prove themselves with a trial of blood, each wounding themselves in their respective drastically violent ways.
It was quite a conundrum, for if the holy dagger didn't repel one or the other, then they must both be innocent, yet the church was the voice of god, it was unfathomable that it could ever be mistaken. Clearly, there was something he missed; some detail left unobserved that was the final damning piece of evidence to disprove one story or another.
Unless, of course, this were a sign that they both were on an equal level of guilt and both should be judged similarly. With this in mind, he was on the verge of condemning them both to execution for their crimes against the city when another figure arrived. The castle Maitre'd, appointed by Vidar and one of utmost faith to his cause, appeared almost from nowhere, striking down one of the two.
Clearly, this was a sign from god, showing who was the truly innocent here. Nodding slightly, he was gladdened that he would not have to punish two people for one sin. Yet after several moments, he was jolted into the single realization: if he did not do something now, the girl would die.
Normally, he might now have cared whether one who had been brought to the attention of the church for suspicions of heresy or other crimes died of their own misfortune, yet she was dying from a self-inflicted wound made in the name of god; it was an action that deeply impressed the lord of Avaren.
"Tori!" he commanded, "Take her to the castle yourself. Make certain she sees the best care Avaren can provide; I place responsibility for her life in your hands, do not let her die or it will be on your head. She will be, at least for now, confined to the castle upon treatment; not allowed to leave for any reason unless I permit it. Now go! Make haste!"

Tori grabbed Insidia, plucking her up from the ground, and carrying her, ran off toward the castle, "Yes, Lord Vidar. It shall be as you say." She fled quickly back to the castle, not wanting to make Him angry, for this woman's death would be her sin. She carried Insidia back to the castle, stopping only when she could not find the path, as one does in a crowded city. She began to scream as she ran, "It shall be the sin of those who get in my way, and make this woman die. Ye who obstruct me shall be punished!" With that, the crowds cleared around her, allowing her free passage to the castle.
OOC: This will be continued in the Castle Library, where Tori will drop Insidia off.
