The weight of the Mazus' armor started to bother him, as he sparred with his normal sparring mate. It usually didn't bother him, but today he felt fatigued, whether it was him training for so much, every day, or if it was that he just got lazy, he needed a break. Mazus told the man, "I need a break." He then bowed to the other Warrior, and made his way near a wall. I don't need my armor on when training, it is only good for wars, and conditioning, he told himself. Mazus took off his black and yellow armor, and then his helmet. His long black hair, wet down by sweat, hanged over his face, covering his eyes. The sweat that came down from the top of his head, stung his eyes, and left a salty taste as it got past his eyes and nose, and got onto his lips.
He took his hand, and rubbed the sweat off of his head, as he did that, he also moved his hair out of his face. Mazus watched as other people spar, and thought to himself, Magic is just a cheap way to fight. These warriors has to be close up, unless they are archers, but at least that position requires strength. Holding a staff, and having so much power, just doesn't seem fair to me, no matter how much training they have to go through. That also brought another thought to Mazus, which he accidentally said out loud. "Why am I seeing Mages in the Kingdom?" He didn't say that loud, but still hearable. He had heard of a Mage being in the Warrior's Barracks, and he seen them in Taverns, in the Alleys, and some other places.

"Is there something wrong with mages?" a voice said loud enough for Mazus to hear. It came from a direction that was currently out of view from Mazus. Somewhat behind him but not completely. The voice was calm and not aggressive. It was more of one that would offer conversation if one could be given and held the distinguishing voice of a male warrior. "As far as I can tell, mages still are capable of living here in Avaren unless there were changes within the last year that I am not aware of."
If Mazus was to turn around, he would see a man that stood at about six feet and four inches tall. He had brown hair that was put into a short ponytail and wore a piece of headgear that seemed to be made out of a white material and had a tail at the end as well. His eyes where blue and he had a medium build. Brown leather pants and top, though the top was sleeveless so his muscles were exposed. At his wrists were wrapped in the same white cloth that was being held there by the bangles that he wore. A white cape drifted down from the collar of his neck down his back. His leather boots were steal capped which protected his toes and ankles from any damage. He had two long swords that were sheathed and served as his secondary weapons. His main weapon of course would be the spear that he had slung across his back.

"Is there something wrong with mages?" A voice from behind Mazus, asked. He turned around just as the man finished his last sentence. Mazus, thinking about what he said, realized how bad it sounded. I have to be more careful, because I am now in a pickle, Mazus told himself. "No, there are no problems with Mages, but lately, there have been more Mages around. I even heard that a Mage entered the Warrior's Barracks, not too long ago," he replied. He knew that laws of Avaren, doesn't prohibit Mages from living here, but that is one law he is against. Tales from the past said that the Warriors and the Mages battled against each other. Whether that was true or not, Mazus didn't want to take the chance that another war could start, and the Mages here would try to pull something, or get hurt themselves, even if they say they are neutral.
Mazus looked closer at the man, and noticed who it was. It was David Augustine, a Spearman. "I find it rare, to see a higher than normal number of Mages that are in Avaren today. That is why I said what I said, but I probably didn't used the proper words. I should of said, why am I seeing an unusual number of Mages in Avaren," Mazus said. His answer that he gave David, wasn't completely true, he did feel if there is a chance that the Warriors and Mages could go into war again, that there should be no Mages in Avaren, as there should be no Warriors in Aesir.

"A mage entered the warrior barracks?" David repeated with a bowed head. He closed his eyes and raised his hand towards his chin. It was true that was unusual and the fact that it wasn't very welcoming. He opened his eyes again to look at Mazus and lowered his hand. "Well, it's true that they don't need to be in the barracks unless they were searching for something or someone." he spoke, "Of course, there is the propability that they were lost. However, that theory is highly unlikely since mages are supposedly able to guide themselves by the use of their magic as well."
David thought about what Mazus had also stated. His words were careful and did show what he was thinking, but not entirely. However, David understood what Mazus was saying. "There are several reasons why Avaren has an open door policy. However, I do not blame you to be supsicious of such things." he replied, "Most warriors would agree with you. However, if we were to rid this city of the mages, it would make us look more like a hostile kingdom. We also need Aesir and they need Avaren. Though we are both uncomfortable with each other."

Mazus did believe that David had a good point. If they didn't accept the Mages, it could cause them to be mad, and maybe it would result in something bad. "You have good points," Mazus started. He didn't want to back talk David, he was more superior, and he was also wise. Mazus uses Warrior's ranks, to decide who is more superior. Also, Mazus did agree with most of what David said, but he still thought that Mages shouldn't be let into Avaren. Then he thought about the Mage that walked into the Barracks. "I don't know who was here at the time the Mage came into the Barracks, but I've been told that it happened, by others that wasn't there themselves," Mazus stated.
"However, I do feel that we should more careful. Because if we are, or will be, at bad terms with the Mages, they could easily stroll into here, as the other one did, and cause some havoc. Even if we aren't at bad terms we should be careful, any crazed Mage could do that," Mazus said. He did feel it was kind of sad that a Mage got into the Barracks, so easily. Mazus also thought that maybe some Mages could infiltrate the Castle, but then again, the Castle is heavily guarded, but Mazus always thought that you can't have enough guards guarding the King, and the Queen.

David nodded and smiled at what he heard from Mazus. He looked around and found a stool in which he pulled up and sat upon. His legs were starting to ache from the various things that he had been doing. He listened to what Mazus had to say on the topic of the mage being inside of the barracks. This caused the spearman to chuckle slightly. "So for all we know, the mage might not have even been inside of the barracks." David replied, "And it is fairly easy for anyone to waltz inside of the barracks. I mean after all, there isn't any guards stationed at every enterance or exit here like the castle."
David nodded his head in agreement to what the footman had to say. It was a particular danger that crazed mages could enter. There had been several instances that mages that had become too influenced by their powers or other things. It was always a risk and one that Avaren took to keep friendly relations. "Yes, that is a very potential threat." he agreed, "However, Aesir knows that when a mage is in Avaren that they are not protected by their laws and the same for warriors that are in Aesir. A single mishap could mean death for either one if they were to do the wrong thing."

"That is another reason why I fear Mages coming into Avaren. If Mages committed a crime, they could be in more danger, than if a Warrior committed the same crime. I feel justice, wouldn't prevail in some cases," Mazus said, now leaning on a nearby wall. He felt it was kind of funny, that the Warriors didn't had any guards outside, but then again, the King and Queen needs guards, more than the Warriors, and Mazus wouldn't had it the other way. We are capable of defending ourselves, and most people here are fast acting, and smart. We would definitely have advantage over an army of Mages, let alone one, no matter what their power may be, he thought to himself.
He knew that if in a war, Warriors would have advantage in short ranged battles, but getting to the Mages could be a problem. Also, he knew the Archers would come in handy. Mazus didn't want to be arrogant, but he did believe that they are better that Mages, but he also would bet that the Mages feels like they are the superior beings. Legends of past wars, always seems to end with peace, and there never seemed to be a clear winner. But then again, they were legends, tales, and stories, so they easily could be false.

"But then you'd also have to look towards the downside." David brought up about the mages, "If they were not here, we would have no clerics or priests. In fact, many of our medicines and certain illnesses can only be cured by mages. Of course, most of these mages have resided in Avaren nearly all their lives and have learned the trade through their parents or whoever was raising them." He let out another sigh and closed his eyes looking as though he was deep in thought. There were so many good and bad things about the mages being in Avaren. For every good thing there seemed to be a bad thing. Of course, David had fought with mages before and against them as well.
He didn't view them as superior or inferior to him or to any warrior or mage for that matter. David viewed them as warriors, but of a different type. They were warriors of the mind. They depended on their knowledge for their strength. Where as the warriors such as Mazus and David depended on their bodies for their strength. Not that warriors were mindless brutes, but it was true that without some physical strength that a warrior is practically nothing. "As long as we keep a watchful eye over ourselves and the ones that we care about, I feel that we have nothing to worry from the mages." David stated feeling that it needed to be said.

"Yeah, that's true. We can watch over ourselves," Mazus said quietly. David was completely right about the Clerics. Without them, many of Warriors could of died, and the towns people that acquired illnesses, all could be dead if it wasn't for clerics. Mazus looked at everyone else training, and knew that he should be getting to that soon. He took a long enough break, and he knew if he kept talking about Mages, he wouldn't be able to improve his skills. "Well, I feel like I should get back to training," Mazus told David. He looked around the Barracks, archers taking target practice, swordsmen sparring, and other training methods were taking place, like usual.
OOC: Sorry for the crappy post...

David nodded and stood up from where he was sitting after he heard what Mazus had to say. He thought about something and then looked around. Many warriors were training for various things. He closed his eyes and placed a hand on his chin as if he was deep in thought. David then nodded his head yet again and looked at Mazus with his blue eyes. "I understand and I should probably do some training as well." David replied, "In fact, I haven't sparred in quite some time and you seem to be a more than capable individual."
He smirked at Mazus and then walked away a few paces. He stopped once inside one of the rings that provided an area of training. He gripped the handle of one of the long swords that were at his waist. He unsheathed it revealing a blade that glowed with a black aura on one side and a white aura on the other. He was sure that some sort of attention was being drawn by this, but paid it know mind. He gave it a few practice swings leaving a small trail of the two auras. "Would you give me the honor of practicing my hand for a bit?" David asked.
OOC: that's alright I've seen worse. And as for the enchanted sword, it doesn't do anything but glow. Any magic that the sword holds would require a mage to use.

"It would be honor to spar with you," replied Mazus. He picked up his Axe, and rested it on his right shoulder. Mazus knew that this would probably be impossible to win, but he knew that it would be a valuable training session. Before he could do anything else, Mazus admired David's glowing sword. Not a great weapon to use if your sneaking up on somebody in the dark, Mazus jokingly thought to himself. Mazus walked into the ring that David had walked in. Mazus rubbed his hand together, and then rubbed them on his shirt. Then, with both hands, he gripped the Axe, and swung it a few times in the air, to get use to it.
Mazus didn't want to use a sword in this duel. He was much more skilled with an Axe, but then again, he wasn't that great with an Axe. "So, shall we establish some rules before we start?" Mazus asked David. He had some thoughts, such as being careful not to kill one another. Mazus looked at David, and then at the sword. He had a lot of questions about the sword, but he knew that it would better to ask after the training session.

David watched as the warrior brought an axe to the training circle. He took a large gulp of his own saliva. His eyes focused on the weapon as he attempted to try and estimate the weight of the weapon. Already devising possible methods to out maneuver him while he swung it. His mind was racing already and his blue eyes were focused. However, he was shortly then brought back to what was currently happened. Mazus' voice entered his head like a soft ring echoing through his mind.
"Rules?" David repeated as if he had never heard of the word. He blinked a few times as if returning from some other realm. "Oh, the rules. Well, no killing. Let's attempt not to seriously injure each other. And lets be good sportsmen about this after all this is only a friendly test. Is there anything that you'd like to add?" he answered Mazus' question and then showed courtesy by asking him if there was anything else he wanted included with the rules.

"No, that's good," Mazus replied. He wouldn't dare to seriously hurt any of his fellow warriors, they were on his side, so it would just be stupid. However, he knew that it could be hard to control the Axe, if he swung it hard, because the weight of the Axe, makes it hard to pull back, when swung. Mazus never took sparring with another Warrior too seriously, but he always tried to win. He never took it too seriously, because if he did, he knew that someone could end up hurt, including himself. Mazus stood in the middle of the ring, and then took a few steps back. He looked down at his feet, and took a deep breath.
"Would you like to make the first move, or would you like me to start?" Mazus asked David. He usually just tells his opponent to make the first move, but he wanted to honor the fact that David Augustine was higher in rank than him. He stared at David, and then slightly bowed his head. Just in case David chose to go first, Mazus got into his defensive position. Which all he did was, bent his knees, and held his Axe with two hands, in front of his body.

Holding his sword infront of him, David stared at Mazus. His footing light and his leg muscles ready to move when needed. He blinked a few times coming up with the plan that would suit him for this friendly spar. He nodded to himself not really hearing Mazus' question. He then shifted the sword to a defensive position. He then let out a relaxing breath while his eyes were closed. He blocked out everything that was going on around him. When he opened his eyes, all he was focused on was Mazus with his axe and the circle that surrounded them. He was ready now.
"You're move first." David's calm voice spoke. Though his voice might've been too calm. Something that wasn't out of arrogance or anything like that. Just as if he was ready for this spar and felt comfortable with it. His mind set on blocking out other distractions it would be a friendly training session between Mazus Galleon and David Augustine.

David chose Mazus to have he first move, so his game plan already changed. He knew that that was going to happen a lot this battle. Mazus never fought a Spearmen, and even though he is using a sword, most of the time what you trained for, effects how you use other weapons. Mazus noticed that after switching to Axes, when he first used swords. He tried to think what his first attack should be, whether he should use the flat side of the Axe, or the blade. Mazus slowly stepped closer, and noted that David was in his defensive position, meaning that he was ready to go.
Mazus steps got faster, and faster. He was getting close to David. Mazus was moving as fast as he could, which wasn't that fast. Axe fighters usually have less speed. Then he knew what he wanted to do. He turned over the Axe, so if he swung it, it would hit David with the flat side of the Axe. Then when David got in range, Mazus powerfully swung his Axe, at David's right ribs, using the flat side of the Axe.
