ooc: Well then, I guess I should make this rather short and let the king and queen look all cool and stuff.........so I guess I'll just go off and help someone else.

Without comment or complaint, without even a cry of victory as his blow connected with the great gnoll and dealt it a apparently mortal wound, Rotiart bowed quickly when his king bid him leave the wounded gnoll leader to him and sped off in the opposite direction, having faith that the king and queen together would be an unbeatable combination.
Heading off in the direction he believed to have seen David depart in, he found himself leaving the city walls and spotting David carrying what appeared to be a cart along with him back towards the city. At the sight of an approaching gnoll force advancing on the perhaps fatigued warrior, Rotiart hurried to his side, "Once again I meet you and once again I get to offer you a hand in battle."

The King became immersed in his battle with the Hyena-like monster. He had to deal with his own personal duel before he could aid his brother in the defenses of the city. Besides, this 'Fenbrigd' appeared to be a high member of their heirarchy. Defeating him would lower their morale. Yet his first attack on the beast missed, he was quick to respond to the monster's retorts.
A grin appeared on his face as he felt the hilt of Fenbrigd tap against his armor. Both knew it would do nothing, yet it also brought up the possibility that the beast was playing with him. A human King would not be considered much by the vile gnolls. Yet Elyan wasn't just a human magistrate. He was a descendant of Hercules, the hero who freed Avaren during the last war.
Elyan quickly turned around, or at least as quickly as he could with all the armor weighing him down, and drove his blade into the gut of the hyena. "Dead aim second." He retorted.

The lumbering Gnoll couldn't possibly have seen the smile on the King's face as the hyena-like beast toyed with his prey, not to mention the fact that the King was wearing a helmet, and didn't suspect a thing on the human's part. Sure; Fenbrigd respected his foes enough to know that humans were very intelligent, in their own...primative ways, and that ones of this caliber were not meant to be understimated. But Fenbrigd's little sense was clouded by the scent of battle and the feeling of having blood drip from his own form; that was the greatest feeling he could experience and as his mind bathed in that one moment; his guard collasped.
And Elyan Herculides the Eighth drove his sword through Fenbrigd's chestplate and into the Gnoll's large frame.
It took .08 seconds for the nerves in that area of his body to register pain and send the screaming messages up to the brain; funny how something so painful can be painless for such a short time. But Pain overwhelmed Fenbrigd as a swollen river overflows it's banks with murky water. He had taken that first blow from a warrior and survived it, but was this too much for the Gnoll to take. The blade had punctured his heart, the Gnoll was certain of that much, and he knew that in time he would bleed out; however....
That would only happen if the sword was pulled out of him.
With his small brain trying to logically think of a course of action, Fenbrigd did what he thought would let him live the longest. Dropping his own sword as his body shook terribly from spasms of pain, Fenbrigd grabbed Elyan's sword in both hands and as he howled out his pain, anger, and triumph....he pulled the sword deeper into his body. Blood spurted out onto the King's armor as the Gnoll pulled the blade further into his body, but he couldn't pull it any deeper into himself at around the middle of the blade. Leering at the Kingie savagely, Fenbrigd spat blood through the slits of the visor that covered the man's face and howled, "You still no kille me yet Kingie. First time; you miss. Second time; you no kille. Third time; charm ya?"

David turned his gaze to see another warrior approaching and take out one of those canine like creatures. It was the same individual as before that had come and greeted him with the use of a dagger. He chuckled as he heard Rotiart's voice. His comment echoing through his mind as he pulled the cart filled with women and other valuables that were stolen by the gnolls. He continued to pull as the other warrior was keeping his pace nearby.
"Then I welcome it gladly." David spoke towards the man as he continued to pull the cart towards Avaren with all of the strength and speed that he could possibly muster. He turned his head over his shoulder to see if anything was chasing after them. "All I need is for this cart to make it back to Avaren safely and seeing as those gruesome creatures will attempt to run it over and take it back, it would be very helpful if you could help protect it."

The creature was already dead, it had been dead the moment his blade pierced it's flesh, yet still the gnoll refused to submit to it's fate, fighting on instead down to the last breath. It was almost pitiable. Almost.
"Third time's the charm." he said simply, imitating and agreeing with Fenbrigd's crude mockery.
With a cry, Elyan jerked swiftly on the blade the beast had chosen to imbed so deeply within itself. Though momentarily blinded by the blood the hyena-man had spat at him, he knew where his foe stood and swung his blade as soon as it had cleared it's victim's body, aiming a sweeping chop towards its neck, aiming for a decapitating blow to finish this once and for all.
