The positions system here on this site is a very simple one to follow. Once you have joined and have a good idea for your character, as to what they are and what they can do, within all reasonable limits, you choose either warrior or mage- whichever corresponds closest to your character design.
Now, there are two important fields to remember here. The first one is Member Position, which designates an overall feel for your character. The options here are, as states, mage or warrior. The second field is your choice as to the text that goes within. It is essentially a title used to give more flavor to what people might expect from your character. For example, one might have a tendency towards acquiring items belonging to other people in mysterious fashions, in which case they might ask for a position somewhat along the lines of “thief”. This does, as can be seen, give way to almost infinite possibilities within the limits of what a mage or warrior might be able to accomplish.
Of course, when thinking of mages and warriors, the primary difference between the two is that mages wield magic primarily as a means to get themselves through their lives and in any sort of combat situation, while warriors would instead rely on weapon proficiency and physical skill. In other words, you wouldn’t see warrior running around hurling fireballs in the same way you wouldn’t see mages running about challenging others to duels of swordsmanship.
To get your position changed, message the admin, (darkglassraptor), so you can get into Role-playing as quick as possible once you’ve gotten your position taken care of. Bear in mind also that the admin has the right to deny a position from you if he believes you are making an attempt at giving yourself too much power or authority to soon.
Now, one of the more unique aspects of this site is the ability to use gold, which you gather through posting, and turn it around into different ways of customizing your character. Many items, as you will find, require you to have been “tested”. This means to provide at least five in-character threads of decent length that you feel express your best skills in role-playing. Bear in mind that this is a test of both in-character and out-of-character skill; checking creativity, proper use of English and to make certain you aren't vastly overpowering yourself. Also remember that length of each individual post means nothing if that same post lacks content, for even a single sentence can suffice in certain situations. On that same note; with the threads to be provided, "decent length" does not refer to the individual posts, it refers to the thread itself. After all, if you only post once or twice and use that to request an advancement, it will be disregarded for consideration. As a general rule of thumb, try to provide threads that at least make it to a second page.
