Well; I'm new to the site and all, but there are some things that I've noticed that go against what the admin has actually set down as the rules of the site. Power; it's a good thing but bad when used out of the given limits. The reason that the class system was designed, from my point of view, is that so people would start off as fragile, unexperienced classes that would slowly gain the abilities that they hope to attain.
For example; I'm not saying that a lvl 1 warrior shouldn't be able to wield a sword properly, but there is hardly any way that the warrior should be able to defeat any foe. Same goes for mages; lvl 1 mages should be just beginning to master the basic spells of the trade, and not anything advanced. In theory the system that the Admin has put down is a reliable one, but there are those that abuse the system. Those that are abusing the system; I ask you highly to stop and reconsider what you are doing because it's unfair to the thought put behind this site. For those that have been following the system better than others; you have my utmost respect.
And...as much as I love Christopher P. and his books, I find that having a dragon at such a low lvl is completely out of the question, and is the easiest and most blanant way to abuse this delicate system.

I love you. (jk lol) But seriously, that's basically what I've been saying. And as for the dragon I strongly agree. I could not agree with anything more. Like you have no idea how much I'm agreeing with your whole post.

I assume you mean "hear, hear"? I have to say that I am in perfect agreement with what has been said and would like to add a couple things myself. I do not mind the idea of a mage having some sort of weapon to defend him- or herself in last resort situations, but I find it hard to believe that a warrior would know much, if any, magic. Especially if said warrior were low level. I think that supernatural senses go along with this. Another large abuse of this rule can easily be magic weapons. While there is no rule against them, nor do I advocate one, I would like to point out that magic weapons are not likely to be extremely common, nor are they likely to be powerful enough to instantly kill people. </rant>

I'm in total agreement with what all of you said. Magical weapons are and should be rare. Not very common at all and shouldn't be all powerful. My character uses magical weapons that are swords. The only magical aspect is that they protect him certain types of magic. However, there are so many types that would still work against him and not only that the abilities of the weapon don't work unless they are drawn and he's not a swordsman so getting the weapons knocked out of his hands wouldn't be a difficult task. I also think that if you were to use a magical weapon of sorts that you should create a history for the weapons like their origin and how your character came across them. I've created one for mine, but it's not posted in my profile yet. Other than that, they'd only do the same damage as regular long swords.

I just think if someone gives themselves lots of powers they couldn't have, then just like.....when they say they use them, ignore their post......

Nah, you don't ignore their post. You just find some way that you evade it or nullify their power. After all, they can't say what happens to you when they attack. That's for you to write out. So while it would technically be god-moding to always evade, I think it would be overlooked because of the circumstances.

hello théodbold...no one has said that yet.
but i don't know if this abuses the system but i refer to myself as a thief now...even though i am techinally miltia. i go with the sort of "since i am aiming to be a thief its cool to talk like i am a low class one for now".
is that wrong?

I have been thinking this the entire time, it's just people who use said 'Dragons' and 'Magic Weapons' usually have such thick heads that they won't listen anyway so let them do what they want.
And no, you can't ignore the fact that the person just summoned the ultimate death bomb. What you can ignore is the fact that they actually did it.
The proper response to 'godsavior1x1icryatnight uses oltimite deth bom of doomm' is 'Person looked at godsavior1x1icryatnight with confusion, as he was leaping up and down like he was summoning some kind of 'ultimate death bomb' in his head. He always knew they were strange, but not THAT strange.'
etc. etc.
And, magic in Avaren (the Warrior City) is an old wives' tale that no one knows about 'cept for the Aesirians. Thus, 'magic weapons' wouldn't even really be known. o.o

Many people wish to have magical weapons or armor of some sort, yet to dish these powerful items out to everyone who desired one would seem nothing more than a way to encourage over-empowerment, thus I just edited the cash shop list so that Magical Weapons and Armor is also available. Note: You can have enough money to purchase these before level 4, yet only after you've been tested and passed on to level four can you actually be granted them.

Beautiful. Honestly, these posts are amazing; you can't possibly imagine how much you guys rock for saying all this. I say we have a toast to power regulations... though it's not likely something that'll heal itself, there are always the good, the proud, the uberkewl few who work on enforcing such ideas. Cheers!
