Alrighty then, here’s one of what I perceive to be the bigger problems here at the moment: all these "(open)" and "(closed)" threads that are absolutely everywhere.
First off, the "(open)" title is completely unnecessary, for unless specifically specified elsewhere, all threads are assumed to be open to all for posting. I'd rather you did it to your threads for me, but I'll probably go around removing the "(open)" statements at the beginning of each thread, as overall it just seems kinda distracting in the overall title.
Also, it seems there are a lot of "(closed)" threads. I also highly dislike these. I mean, I understand that people really don't want any thread crashers there just for the sake of causing problems, yet I don't know of any people currently on the site that actually do that. Also, turning people away with closed threads just isn't healthy overall for the role-playing community, as it causes people to form their own little social groups that exclude all others.
Overall, I'd like to see none of the distracting "(open)" or "(closed)" titles is people's thread names. If you really really REALLY think you desperately need to close a thread, just put it as an out of character note in the beginning of your post, or at least a note asking people not to ruin what you're currently doing.

Cain and I discussed this last night.
Think about it, this is a forum, a social forum for everyone to join. If you only want to play with certain people, go make your own and close it off to only them. This is not school when you form a clique and only hang around them, you know.
When I joined I saw a ton of that open and closed thread stuff, that was just ridiculous and may I say completely recoiling. I could join NOTHING but a thread people PM'd me to join them in.
I can see there being very few threads that you may want to put that its invitation only, but more than half the ones here are like that. Deal with the other members, and if you have a problem, kindly PM them and sort it out.
Why do you think the other 100 members don't post? Maybe because they can't since threads are closed off. When I joined I believe I saw ONE open thread.

>.>; As for actually being helpful.. Err... I think 'closed' threads should be allowed? Just.. ask permission to post it as 'closed'? I mean, you can't really just get rid of the closedness, because then.. ..... Muryllis will take over the world. *shudder* So like yeah.

It's a trend on this site. I HAD to let people know they could join. It's what everyone does, they probably would never have known if I didn't.
Forgot to add, also Sparky, yeah we just think there should be more open threads and a lot less closed. Closed should only be if very necessary.

Well, if, as Cain said, all threads are open unless stated otherwise, we won't need to do that, but until the concept catches on, we will. If it helps anyone reading this thread, ANY post I make is open. I have enough trouble finding people to RP with, without closing my threads... I have a habit of offending people, if I continue to talk, so I'll cut the reply here...

Yes, point being was it seems like all threads ARE closed UNLESS they say open here. Though it SHOULD be that they are all open unless stated otherwise and in a rare case.
Akai you should say whatever you like. Your also one ov the most friendly I've met here and they few who wanted me to join threads with them.

I get REALLY offensive if I argue for long periods of time. Anyways, the point is that I wish I could trust to jump into more posts. Even I realize that how offensive I get, so I often have to edit my posts before I post them.

I don't know, I never had a problem with closed threads. I guess i didn't notice that were alot of them. I personally only used one closed thread, that started back on the old site and continued here cause we (Tyanno and I) were in the middle of it. And it was only closed cause it was a duel taking place in the back reaches of the forrest. Other than that, never had a problem. Even our house back on the old site and will be purchased soon on the new site, was an open board, for everyone. I have always assumed that a thread that wasn't declared closed, was open. I pop up everywhere, cuz i'm that cool mysterious dogooder. What ticks me off is when you get a thread going and it carries on for awhile and you post a thread that requires someone to respond for the plot to continue, and it goes dead. THATS what killed the old site. I'd have to drop ten threads scattered throughout random boards just to get one answered. But if you see a problem with closed posts, i'm not gonna be one to argue. I agree that closed threads should be used only on certain cercumstances, like the one I used. I just post "open' all the time so to encourage people for the fact i can drop a thread and nobody will answer. I've seeing more and more of peole going to the OCC boards and begging people to post in their threads, it shouldn't have to be that way. I look at all the threads recently posted and enter to all the ones that 1. I won't ruin by joining, 2. remotely assist my plotline. That way I'm making sure that people are getting the interaction they need to progress through this site. well, I'll talk more on this later, I got two more days in WI and then I ship to Iraq, so I gotta pack. I may be unavailble for a couple days in the next few weeks until I get settled into my post of assignment. I have to pass through Kuwait first...

I think overall I'm going to be removing the "open" and "closed" notations at the end of threads, simply because they really don't look at all appealing.......
It just seems people desire making threads to go precisely as they plan where nothing else will fly, which defeats the whole purpose of role-playing with others......
So, unless there is so true reason that you need the thread to be closed from all but a few choice people, I would urge people to leave their threads open for all.
Even should you wish to close it, don't make a big note in the thread name, simply put an out of character note asking people to refrain from posting in the thread, and preferably giving a reason as to why.

I agree about the closed thread. For the record, none of mine have said either open or closed except for one, when I wanted to let people know that they could join.
As for closed threads, I have a plot going on, so I have to make a few of those so it doesn't get messed up. But I'll put the note in the first post instead, then. ^_^

I can follow that. It is a good idea all around. only certai, rare threads of thickly laid plot really need to be closed and all others need to be open. Besides, people like myself are having enough problems trying to keep stories running due to the infrequency of others. There is no need to hinder that more.

Yes, agreed. I think I shall follow the same theory. I mean, as I said, I have enough trouble without running into closed threads. If anyone wants to start a post with me, feel free to ask. I, for one would want to put open in the title, because NO ONE seems to join my posts, unless I do. Hopefully, this will solve that problem...

That was a whole other point to this. Because people put closed, and open, if a thread has no word saying its open, people think they just cant join it, and others feel they need to put open so that doesn't happen.
Thats what I thought when I joined.

I know this has nothing to do with this thread, lol, but I have to comment. Demigoddess, your last name, Sepulcral, was one of my vocab words for english. Tomb, or burial ground. Interesting choice...

Yes, derived from sepulcher. It has meaning to who she is. Funny it was in your English class, considering it's Latin.
