Nexus looked around the cell. Nothing,it was empty.he tapped the wall to see if it was hollow...nope hard as a rock. Even his boots were checked , after the "incident" the queen obviously didn't want to mess around. "What am I gonna do now...?" he thought."will I get executioned? or will they clear my name...."

"Young man, your trial begins now." came the voice of Father Vidar, drawing up to Nexus' cell, his robes brushing softly against the stone floor of the dungeons. "First off, let me begin by stating that all magic of any sort is a vile art used only to commune with hell and draw power from the forces of evil that resides within us all. Slowly that power grows, giving the heretic more and more might until they are beyond our power to control, at which point they wreak terrible havoc, reaping the souls of many innocents for their dark master until they are consumed by the same darkness which they first called upon."
"Now you," he said, pointing to Nexus and unfurling the scroll that had his accusations upon it, "Are not yet completely damned. You are here accused for supposedly aiding and or sheltering heretics, with possible heretical suspicion, of course." Handing the scroll back to a nearby scribe, he began pacing back and forth in front of the cell.
"One of evil's most powerful tools is its ability to deceive even the most stalwart servants of god into believing they are doing good when in truth their actions are of the blackest of evils. Explain yourself. Why compelled you to shelter heretics? Why do you seek to consort with beings to obviously against the will of god? As it stands now, you are guilty of all accusations, unless you can satisfactorily prove to me your innocence."

Nexus was quick to awnser "The mage put me under her control ...making me helpless to resist command." "I have raised to pray to our god since I could Talk..." he said "what would happen if I failed this trial?"

"Interesting.........." he said simply, making a curt gesture to a pair of guards. "Bring him before me." Without hesitation they threw open the doors of the cell, grasping Nexus roughly by each arm and dragging him forth until he stood before Vidar,
"So your flesh has carried out dark deeds yet your soul remains pure. So then, let us punish the dark deeds of the mortal flesh, then grant his soul a chance to redeem these misdeeds. If it is so, your place in heaven is assured when death finally takes you." He said, drawing forth a dagger. With two swift strokes: one horizontal and one vertical, he cut a cross upon his chest. While neither cut was deep, they would almost certainly leave a scar behind, to remind him of his failings to uphold the will of god.
"Take him back to his cell," he said, which prompted the guards to drag Nexus back to the cell he had come from and bar him within once more. "I hereby absolve you of all crimes, whether real or perceived, on one condition." Holding the dagger out before him, he continued, "Once the true heretics have been condemned, you shall attend their public execution. In fact, with this very knife you shall end their lives and send them before god for their judgment."

Nexus was relived until he heard: "In fact, with this very knife you shall end their lives and send them before god for their judgment." He would have to kill his Friends could he do it in exchange for his OWN life? He sat down in the cell and stared blankly at the ceiling who was going to die by my hand first....
