Shadows of the past

[Shadow]

((have you ever witnessed a properly executed, downward crescent heel kick? If you have then you will know what I'm talking about, and since shadow is seven feet tall, he can kick pretty well.))
Shadow saw the zombies lunging, and blasted them with magic, the blast sending them flying backwards. thinking while he did this, he realized that the shield he thought he had put around the two of them hadn't activated. Shaking his head, he reaccessed his magic and activated the energy shield around him and Ariadne. unfortunately, it had a radius that included several zombies, mainly the ones that were the most like the original that attacked them. "crap." shadow looked around. Ariadne was doing well, but he wondered were Chao was. The answer came soon, as a mental call alerted Shadow that Chao couldn't get to him seeing as the zombies were too numerous. Shadow nodded as he dodged blows. I figured as much. Chao, cut a path to us, and keep it open. we'll never survive this onslaught, unless we could keep them busy and distracted until the sun came out. Chaos answer made shadow laugh. I could try, but... you are right... what's the worst that could happen? Shadow closed his eyes. "Ariadne, watch my back. I want to try something..." He began to glow, and a sphere of light formed between his hands, which were facing each other, palm-to-palm. as he separated his hands, the sphere grew in size. Smiling, he opened his eyes, held the sphere in one hand, and chose a target. He decided on the main one.
Throwing the sphere of light energy, it hit... not the intended target. though it hit a zombie, disintegrating the part it hit, but shadow sighed. "gotta work on that aim..." he created another, and shot it towards the zombie that was trying to eat Ariadne. The blast hit the zombie's outstretched arm, and disintegrated it. "yes!" He formed another and shot it at the zombies that were tying to attack him, the ones that Ariadne was trying to destroy with the club that shadow had discarded earlier. "Ariadne, come to your senses! use fire, not wood. trust me, it'll do much better." he shot another energy sphere into one of the zombies behind him, and turned, preparing one for the main zombie, one that would hopefully hit its head and destroy it.

Ariadne swung at the zombies. But it didnt do much it just sent them back away a couple of feet causing a few zombies behind them to fall. She wasnt as strong, thats why she stuch with her magic. Upon realizing that using physical energy she decided to use her mage skills. Shadow told her to watch his back as he experimented with his magic. Ariadne nodded and was in back of him. She saw from the corner of her eye as Shadow sent a light beam towards a zombie. It wasnt the leader but atleast it was a zombie.

Ariadne nodded at Shadows last remark. She then faced the direction of the exit. (South..)Ariadne closed her eyes and began concentrating on fire.It was hard to do but it had to be done. All of her concentration happened in a just matter of seconds. As she concentrated her hand glowed a red hue. She placed her hands infront of her with her palms facing the sky. As a fireball began to form on her palms of her hands, the water that was falling from the sky just seemed to slide off the ball as if the water had no effect. Ariadne felt that the ball was big enough and decided to open her eyes. But to her dismay the fireball only seemed to be the size of a apple. Ariadne shrugged. "This will have to do." she thought. She then aimed the fireball at the leader of the zombies to hit him square in the chest.

Shadow, having fully formed the sphere, shot it a few seconds after ariadne shot her fireball. the shots both connected, But the shots combined, and created an explosion that destryoed Shadow's shield and threw all in the close vicinity to the ground. Shadow quickly picked up ariadne as Chao dashed towards them. "and now for our escape!" He set ariadne on Chao's back, and with chao, ran along a path edged with fire. "well, chao certainly can handle himself..." Shadow created another sphere of light and let it grow untill it was as wide as his arm span, which was almost equal to his height of seven feet. shooting it off into the air, he smiled weakly, and fainted. he had used too much energy to create the blast, but still, he had shot it off. It flew into the multitude of zombies and exploded, the blast being centered on the main zombie, the one who shadow and ariadne had fired with the first explosion. as the world went black, shadow hoped that chao would get him and ariadne back to the city relatively safely.

[Ariadne]

Ariadne saw the effect her and Shadows balls of magic combined created a powerful combination. As soon as the ball had exploded, Here came Chao. Shadow quickly and swiftly grabbed Ariadne and placed her on top of Chao. As Chao ran he shot breaths of fire which was clearing the way. As they ran. Ariadne saw from the corner of her eye Shadow shoot a incredible beam of light. She smiled but then unexpectedly Shadow had collapsed from the floor and had fallen to the ground. Ariadne jumped off Chao who had continued running without noticing her departure. Ariadne ran towards Shadow and kneeled down his side once she reached him. "Shadow.....Shadow....wake up" Ariadne said as she nudged him. She was unaware of the leading zombie he thought he had disintegrated like his fellow dead.

((Alright, for starters, a freshly buried body isn't gonna burst into little pieces when kicked. Also, you're a mage, how are you gonna go around doing martial arts? In addition, a Scholar is in no way capable of creating an energy shield of that scale. Finally, you are god-moding the "leader" who is named and should be talked about as if he was an actual character. And it's overpowering yourself to shoot energy balls of that capacity. But I'm so nice and kind and shall let it all slide.))

Seeing the havoc caused by the two mages, the zombies realized that they had underestimated their prey. They will not make that mistake again. Using the opportunity of the female kneeling over the man, the Undead attacked. Several of them lunged at the two, swinging at their partially rotten arms at different sections of Ariadne's defenseless back. A few of them held heavy objects, including pieces of rock that have been chipped off of gravestones, iron bars from a fence and the very stick that Ariadne had used. The beings that were cleaved in half had finally made their way to the body laying on the ground. Seizing the opportunity, they began to gnaw on Shadow's feet, their unused salivary glands coming to life once more, producing rivulets of sickening Undead spit.

(woops... well, I had shadow faint, so techincally the spell wouldnt have enough energy to still do mondo damage. And, its not like the zombies are wearing nametags, and i think that neither shadow or Ariadne have mind reading abilities.... Also, it dosent take a martial arts master to preform a downward crescent heel kick. I could break a board with it on my first day of learning it... but I digress.))
Shadow mumbled something, but was awoken once the zombies began to gnaw at his feet, and he sat up, began kicking them off, and was making revolted faces at the saliva. Chao! bring us some large animal, make it something that cannot be turned into a zombie... actually, zip home and get a few flashbangs. Yes, the loud ones. They might mean the difference between death and survival. He turned, and shouted a warning to ariadne seeing as there were zombies behind her with heavy or sharp objects. Using a blast of maagic, he pushed a few back, but a few didnt get affected. "Now would be a good time for the sun to rise..." he sighed, momentarily looking up at the sky, but sooon returned his focous to the ensuing battle. Come on chao... we need those... His train of thought was interupted by an attacking zombie, who he blasted away with more magic. "ariadne, I dont think I have the energy to do any more light magic..." He sighed. "But once chao returns, we might be able to keep them at bay... Loud nose, bright light..." He smiled. "just keep using fireballs. little ones mind you, these guys seem not to take very well to large blasts." He laughed, and returned to blasting zombies, shooting energy from his hand left and right, trying to keep the ever nearing undead at bay.

((I gave you a chance, you didn't take it. Thank you for giving me a chance to start a sweep counter of my very own. If you're confused about my reasons, here they are: first you make an ubershot spell that destroys everyone, that being a huge overpowering in itself. I let that slide. Now you go on and continue blasting spells.))

As the Undead begin to draw blood from Shadow's torn up leg, a wave of fear seems to pass over the zombies attacking the two mages. A creature much more powerful than them was approaching, hungry for prey. There was a break at one point in the circle as something emerged from the newly formed passageway. A humanoid-looking thing with unusually long claws replacing its hand. It was half-bent over and traveled silently, its footfalls not making a sound on the earthen ground. Its abnormally large jaw was dripping with scarlet blood and had several pieces of flesh stuck between its teeth. A rotten smell reached the nostrils as it approached. Before anyone could act, the ghoul was upon Shadow, swinging its clawed hand down the side of his head, injecting his blood with a paralyzing venom. Lucky for him, it would wear off in several hours. If he didn't get eaten before that time came. Turning to Ariadne, the creature seemed to smile before lunging at her with the agility that could not be expected from an Undead.

The zombies gathered around seemed to freeze for the half second during which the ghoul covered the distance between itself and Shadow and paralyze the unfortunate Scholar. The gruesome scene being finished, the zombies are brought to action once more, the ones that were attacking Ariadne continuing the trajectory of their weapons, heading for Ariadne's back.

Ariadne got up from the ground since Shadow appeared to be fine. Ariadne opened her mouth to say somethingbut then her thought was soon to be forgotten. A rotten stench came to her nostrils. Ariadne tried to contain from barfin. Ariadne looked around and found the source of smellyness. It seemed to be a ghoul. A foul looking creature. The ghoul swiftly attacked Shadow and killed him. Or atleast she thought. There was nothing she could do about it. It happened so quicikly. Yet Ariadne felt guilty. A fury of rage overtook Ariadne. She looked at the ghoul with extreme hate. Ariadne was still unaware of the fact that more zombies withlarge objects were behind her. Before the ghoul could attack her. Ariadne moved quickly out of its way. Therefore instead of attacking her, the ghoul attacked a zombie behind her. Ariadne taking this chance to its full advantage grabbed a hold of Shadows leg and dragged him out of the way.

((For starters, you weren't swept for using them, you were swept for overpowering yourself. You just shot off a huge nuke and passed out. Suddenly, you wake up and continue fighting. Methinks there's something wrong with that.))

The ghoul flew past Ariadne and smashed into a group of zombies that were trying to swing at her back. The Undead went flying pell-mell. In rage, the ghoul swung several times at the zombies, ripping several of them into shreds before turning to Ariadne once more, teeth bared. With a dull roar, the creature pounced at her turned back, for she was busy dragging the paralyzed man out of the way.

As Ariadne dragged Shadow behind a latge gravestone from which it appeared that a zombie had came from. She heard a dull roar and turned her head back to see from which dead creature it had came from. Just as she had turned around the ghoul pounced on her. Ariadne landed on the floor with a thud. Ariadnes face squirmed form the horrible stench that came from the ghouls mouth. "Havent you ever heard of mouth wash." Ariadne mumbled through gritted teeth as he layed on top of her. Ariadne pushed "It" off of her and ran behind a big gravestone which hid her form pretty well and began to think of what she coould do. "Sun pleasee come out." Ariadne thought.

As the ghoul was thrown off Ariadne like some nasty piece of filth, a wave of anger came over him. "Raaumfgh!!!" it roared, clearing the distance between itself and the gravestone behind which Ariadne was hiding in one mighty leap. A powerful swing of a clawed arm later, the gravestone was gone and Ariadne was left out in the open, huddling in a big open space for some strange reason. The ghoul smiled at her. "Wazzup!!" it said, lunging forward to get a bite out of Ariadne's head.

Ariadne had drawn up her knees with my arms hugging them close to her chest, her chin was wedge between her knees. As Ariadne sat there she was plannin gon what to do. But nothing came to her mind. "I guess I have to make the stuff up as it goes." Ariadne thought. Her thought of mind was stopped a a loud roar was heard throughout the cementary. Out of the sudden the top of Ariadnes gravestone was clawed off leaving her out in the open. "If I was 1just a foot taller...that could have been my head." Ariadne thought as she now appreciated her height. Then that nasty ghoul tried to take a piece of her head. But before it had mangaed to reach her head. Ariadne swung her fist and punched him in the eye pretty hard. Ariadne took this chance and grabbed a piece of cement that was clawed off from the gravestone and threw it at the ghould head.

As Ariadne swung, the ghoul's momentum still had it going forward. Being the inhuman creature that it is, the ghoul's eye sockets were larger than usual, approximately the size of a petite girl's fist. How convenient. Ariadne's fist got lodged in the ghoul's eye, sending it reeling back several feet, pulling her along with it. Shaking its head wildly back and forth, the ghoul attempted to get her fist out of its head, but no avail. Deciding on a different course of action, the ghoul tried to bite that hand. Fortunately for the mage, it had about as much progress as it would have had trying to bite its own ear. Finally, as a rock whacked into its head, the ghoul fell back slightly, dislodging Ariadne's fist from its eye socket with a disgusting squelch. Angered and partially blinded, the ghoul swung at Ariadne with both arms closing in from the left and the right.

((They didn't have cement in the medieval times ))
