a midmorning cat-tastrophe!--+

[Nyle Grace]

((anyone who reads this...please forgive the pun))

Nyle took in a lung full of the crisp morning air. It was a fine morning and the sun peaked just above the horizon of the great floating city. Today Nyle was taking a walk through the Aesir gardens. She had heard of their beauty from many of the townsfolk but when she layed her eyes upon it, the site was breathtaking. After she let the view settle in her mind Nyle began her walk.


First she came to the roses. They had a sweet scent but she never cared for it. She did however, like their many colors. Nyle went past the deep crimsons and ended at the whites. Next she moved on to a small pond, in the pond floating delicately on top of the water were some water lilies. They were her favorite type of flower. Nyle knelt down to get a closer look. Suddenly, out of nowhere came a loud "MEEWWWERR!", and from the rose bushes burst a skinny tabby cat running at full speed. Before Nyle had a chance to move it ran up her back, jumped of her head and landed on the opposite bank. Then came the same, "MEEWWWERR!", as before. Another one! A chubby calico kitty repeated what the tabby had done execpt he didn't make it across the pond and splashed in the water.


Nyle toppled over in laughter. After she regain her breath Nyle continued on. She passed by the rest of the flowers with little interest until she came to the center piece of this garden. It was a rare flower that bloomed once every nine full moons. It had a long stem with a single bloom on the top. Its black a white petals were closed tight. Nyle admired it but she wanted to touch it. She stepped of the cobble stone path and reached out a timid hand. She was only inches away when a brain rattling "MMUUURRROWR!" came from under her feet. Nyle tripped over the fat multicolored animal and crashed into the flower snapping it in half. Nyle sat on the ground bewildered for a moment. Then kitty walked over toward her and sat on her lap. Nyle gave the cat the sharpest angriest glared she could muster. The kitty didn't seem to mind.


"You little--", she stopped and looked into the kitties' emerald eyes. "I guess it's not really your fault". She pat him on the head and stood up. "I can fix this...I am training to control the elements after all... I can fix this." Nyle walked to the plant and connected it to the piece in her hand. She took a deep breath and focused. After a moment she looked up at the plant. She had only managed to connect a small part back together! Only if she had help...

[Ariadne]

Ariadne woke up in the crack of dawn and decided to take a nice walk through the garden..She was a little bit drowsy but she was sure that the exotic smell of the many varieties of plants will awaken her fully. As she was walking past the center piece of the garden she noticed a young girl touching the plant. It seemed as if it broke in half and she was trying to fix it, but it didnt wrk completely. Ariadne enthustiastically walked up to the plant and put her hand on the half broken stem and closed her eyes. She concentrated realy hard and Ariadnes hand started to glow. A few seconds should do the trick Ariadne thought. As the seconds passed she pulled away and looked at the young girl. "Hi! My name is Ariadne." She said as she brought her hand up so the girl can shake it."Im so happy I finally see another Elementalist." Ariadne said with a smile.

[Nyle Grace]

A woman's reached around Nyle and grasped the plant. Her hands glowed a strange magical light and the plant was fixed. It could go on living a happy life. This was a great relief, but why would a stranger help her? Perhaps the woman needed something? Or maybe she was just that kind. What ever the reason Nyle was happy.


She turned to face the woman but she wasn't a woman at all! She looked to be be no mire than 16 or 17. There girl introduced herself and held out a hand. Nyle took it and replied, "Well, i am not an elementalist yet but my teachers do say i have great potential!" Nyle looked the girl over. Ariadne was a pretty girl and she was very curvy for her age. Nyle envied that, she was a skinny flat-chested nobody.


"Oh, right i am Nyle Theodore Grace," she chuckled softly. Then the kitty rubbed against her ankles and purred. She knelt down and scratched under his chin. "Now that we have names out of they way, i guess i should give this little guy a name". She thought for a moment. And then she stood up, "His name will be Giles Mussolini. Giles because that is a pompous name and he is a pompous cat. Mussolini because his own kind hate him" She smiled at Ariadne, and explained, This little guy is the reason i fell and broke the flower in the first place.

[Ariadne]

Ariadne smiled at the young girl"Oh..that explains it, well youre probably wondering why I helped a mere stranger as yourself, but its beacuse Im well on my way to becoming an Elementalist and well I just dont like the thought of the beauty of this plant being destreyoed."Ariadne told the Grace. "Nice name you and your cat both have" Ariadne said as she bent down and softly stroked Giles.

[Nyle Grace]

Ariadne explained why she had help Nyle. That was a good reason, it made since. But then a question popped into her head. She would ask it in a moment. Ariadne pet Giles and he purred a mewed happily. Nyle looked at the two for a moment and then replied to the girl's comment.

"Thanks, but my name doesn't even come close to how i am...unlike Giles here," she said. Nyle wasn't graceful in the least. Then she realized something...she was talking like she owned Giles. She hadn't ever had a pet before. Perhaps, Giles would be a good first. She looked back st the plant. "What elements are you the most powerful in?", Nyle asked.

[Ariadne]

Ariadne listened as the girl spoke"I cant really say...Im really good at light and earth as you just saw a little bit of earth....but my most powerful will have to be Air and Water." Ariadne said as she thought of that dreadful day in her home village."How about you?" Ariadne asked as she tried to keep those horrible thought out of her mind

[Nyle Grace]

Ariadne seemed a little off as she spoke. She told what her strengths were but her emotions were screaming about some deep pain. It passed quickly and Nyle was asked a question.

"I seem to do well with fire and wind. Lightening and earth I am secong rate at. Then water is the one I have the most problems with". Nyle thought back to that feeling. "If we become friends perhaps I will ask".

[Ariadne]

Ariadne smiled at the girl."Ohhh...I have yet to deal with lightning and fire."Ariadne told Nyle"I guess ill just have to wait. Using my abilities just come to me....I dont like to use it for every little thing..Only when I need to."Ariadne told Nyle

[Nyle Grace]

"Yes, I agree. The skills I have I only use in emergency or when I am trying to learn something new. I don't use them all the time. If I did I would most likely come to depend on them/ And I really don't want to end up helpless," Nyle said. She scratched Giles under the chin and reached under his arms to pick him up. She held the kitty in her arms. It was huge! She held it up as high as her shoulders but its pudgy body slid down.

"We are defiantly going to have to work on an exercise plan for you, aren't we?", she thought. The way she was holding Giles looked uncomfortable but it was a much harder job for Nyle that Giles. Nyle smirked at the girl. "You wanna go a for a walk?", she asked. They couldn't stand in that one place forever.

Ariadne looked while Nyle struggled with the cats weight and smiled. "Sure lets go" Ariadne told her as she started to walk forward.
