(Ahoy.)
Verdan clumsily caught the flask, juggling it in his hands as he felt the unusual coldness in it. Reaching to open it, he heard Shadow's precaution. At that he tore his hand away from the cap, which he was beginning to unscrew. Looking at Shadow with suspicion, Verdan slowly brought the flask up to the back of his head, pressing it against the newly forming bump. Verdan was muttering something about Shadow trying to kill him with his blasted experiments as the doors blasted open and an annoyed elder barged into the room.
Verdan turned to him, the flask falling out of his hands. He got up sharply and bowed ever so slightly. "Master Muryllis. I had not expected someone as high level as yourself to honor this small group with your teachings. Verdan, here." he finished his sentence with a response to the only two words that the Master Spellweaver had spoken. Still awed, Verdan made his way to the front row, where he almost collapsed onto an unoccupied bench.

Shadow shrugged and followed Verdan. To himself, he wonderd, half aloud, "Is he a master? He looks quite grumpy... wonder why...Oh well, better shut up and learn" he took a seat on the same bench as verdan, but noticed that the flask he had given verdan was on the floor, forgotten. it started to vibrate intensely. As Shadow noticed this, he jumped up of his seat and grabbed it. Screwing the cap back on tightly, he sighed with relief. bring it back to verdan, he shook his head. "dont even begin to unscrew it. in here is a disaster waiting to happen. Seriously."

Ariadne stood up and followed the two. "Verdan seems to think very high of this teacher or master whatever he is." Ariadne thought. Ariadnesmiled at Verdan. "Verdans going to be the teachers pet." Ariadne thought to herself. Ariande grinned at Verdan and ave him the "I know something you dont know" look.

"Petty silliness shall not be tolerated within my classes, Miss Ariadne," he muttered audibly while peering over a stack of papers at the various students calling their names. Once he was satisfied with the class - however small it was - he decided to begin his lesson... but with what? Perhaps he would allow for another random class discussion; Muryllis wasn't in the mood to think up a lesson on the spot, not with those annoying theorists' ideas clogging his patience.
"Alrighty then," he began, rising from his stack of papers as a bright ambient light filled the room. His magical setup continued with the summoning of parchment and quills on desks before the students. "What do you fledglings want to know about magic," he asked. "I have all day here, so you might as well make the best of it." Rude and unrefined? Perhaps, but his job was to teach magic, and he had no use for those who had no care.

Shadow looked at him uncertainly. when the parchment appeared, shadow nodded, seeing that this wasn't time for questions. taking a piece of the paper and a quill, he thought for a minute before jotting his ideas down. The Origins How it is usually invoked, or used. How our minds can access it
Shadow looked up. "Thats about all I can think of, but it might be a bit much... it might even call for some studying on the side..."

Verdan stared evenly at Ariadne as she gave him a strange glance and a smile. He grinned back smugly, knowing that she was thinking how overboard he had went with his greeting. Or something along those lines. Hearing the Master Spellweaver speak only firmed the smug look upon Verdan's face as Ariadne was scolded for her actions. Verdan, realizing that he might be scolded too for responding, snapped his head back to face Muryllis. At that point, a quill and parchment appeared in front of Verdan. He eyed the objects in front of him before picking up the quill and beginning to scribble something barely legible on the paper.

An Osprey flew into the classroom gliding on her golden wings. Cries were heard from beyond the classroom. “Lara, get back here.” The voice was soft but the temper was coming through quiet well. With in the Osprey’s beak there was a smooth piece of pink satin ribbon. Hurried footsteps made there way up the stairs. There came a thump as books slide across the hallway floor to land near the door. Slowly a limping figure of a young lady made its way to the books her hair let loss around her body; flowing freely, a brown curtain of unruly curls. Bending down slowly Lessien collected her books from the floor. Her knees red and bruised slightly. Standing up, she walked quietly into the classroom. Bowing to Muryllis. “Sorry I’m late sir!” her voice wobbled a little, her eyes were glistening with tears. Turning silently she walked to the desk on which the Osprey sat, snatching the ribbon unkindly. She proceeded to put her hair up. Her small delicate fingers passed over Lara’s feathers in a heartfelt sorry.

"So then, the origins and ability to use magic? Very well then." The instructor pulled a long, thin wooden stick out of a small pouch he carried on his belt, the wood a light, creamy color. It was tipped with two thin metal discs which gleamed in the light of the glassroom. "So much can be done with magic," he began, watching as the rod shrunk down to the size of a toothpick, then burst into flames with a heat that could melt stone, all in the palm of his hand. "But yes, the origin of magic, where to begin?"
At this point, he was interrupted by the appearance of a raptor and its human pet. Or the other way around. Whatever. The point is, he was rather ticked; his class had been disrupted, and his train of thought derailed. Infuriated, he waited for the girl to sit down with her bird, then tapped the wood of his writing desk. A solid metal cage appeared around the bird, holding it shut until he decided to release it. "I'd prefer no distractions when I am attempting to teach. Name, please?" He payed no heed to her tears; he was here to teach, not to be weighed down by incompetence.

Dashing the tears from her face she spoke clearly, “Lessien Mithrandír.” Lessien stared at the teacher. Grump she thought to herself. He reminded her quite plainly of Old Brutus back in Tyranth. She watched and listened closely as he repeated his statement about the origin of magic. Lessien turned slowly to her page in her note book where she had written plenty of things just not that.

Verdan sat rigid in his seat, eyes fixed on the teacher, not daring to even glance in the direction of the newcomer. Muryllis was more ruthless than he had expected. How could someone be so cold and heartless?.. No matter. The power which the Master Spellweaver posessed was excuse enough for any personalily issues that he may have. Picking up his quill once more, Verdan continued his note-taking process.
-Many things done w/ magic -Origins:
That was where the instructor stopped speaking, for he was interrupted by the newcomer. Verdan glanced over to the girl and her bird, which was now residing in a cage, and made a mental note of her name: Lessien. It was an original name, one Verdan hasn't heard before, but then again, many of Avaren's inhabitants had uncommon names, so it was no surprise.

Ariadne frowned as the Teacher scowlded her. "It wasnt as if she said something." Ariadne slumped in her seat and took a hold of her quill. As Ariadne looked at her parchment blankly she heard a new voice of a girl. Ariadne looked up curiously to find herself looking at a girl with a rather large osprey. Which was then inside a cage. Ariadne then looked at he rpage which she had written nothing of what the teacher had spoken. She wrote: The Origings
The Ability To Use Magic [/color] She felt bad for the poor Osprey locked up in a cage. A bird shall be free and nowhere should pin it down. She then waited for the teacher to continue of with the lesson.

Shadow yawned. Not out of rudeness or anything, but because he didn't expect it, and it just came out. Leaning on the desk, he supported his head with his arm. so are we gonna do anything in this class? I mean learning is great, but getting lectured isn't. I never am able to follow a lecture anyways... Id much rather read the information out of a book... he shook his head at Lessien's entrance. Lara has to learn how to fly in the cities... I'm sure she is too used to the country...oh well. Shadow stretched a bit, and began to doodle on his piece of paper, wondering to himself if he could somehow enchant the doodles so they would move...

The old man didn't much care for his classes assorted mutterings and random comments; if they don't want to learn, they can leave, he reasoned, and continued with his lesson. "Now then, where was I? Ah yes, the origins of magic. I can tell you right away that nobody truly knows the answer to that question - some theorists believe that magic was created along with the universe, others say that magic is what created the universe, and the religious types say that the Gods created magic to serve us and all that. The point is, nobody truly knows; it's open for debate if you young rodents wish to argue with each other."
"The ability to use magic," he continued, "is an interesting study in itself. Whereas most believe that only beings of intelligence - humans, elves, unicorns, and the like - pointing to the idea that magic is a manifestation of mental energy, there is evidence of various creatures of lesser intelligence - from goblins down to insects - able to bend the force to their will. This proves that magic is instead an intangible presence within the universe. Certain magicians - one of whom is yours truly - believe that this is a wispy material - appropriately called 'Thread' - which magicians are able to call upon and Weave. Thus, we are called the Spellweavers, or simple the Weavers."
At this point, his speech had slowed significantly, and he definately looked drowsy. "Other theories exist that state that magic is a property of all matter, that magic is simply a way of changing the elements around you, but it all boils down to the theory of the Weavers; however, it is all simply a matter of.. " he yawned, ".. a matter of belief." Here, sitting in his chair and giving a lecture on magical theory, the renowned Master Spellweaver fell asleep.

Verdan continues scribbling notes as his eyelids get heavier. Sstupidd... llecturres.... Even his thoughts were getting slurred and incoherable. Gradually, the speech got slower and quieter and eventually stopped altogether. Verdan shook his head back and forth in attempt to wake up before looking at the Spellweaver to see what was the problem. He was sound asleep.
A sudden idea came over Verdan as an evil grin stretched apart his face. He reached over to Shadow and poked him slightly, holding a finger up to his lips in indication of quiet. He gestured to the teacher, pointing out that he was sleeping. In a whisper, Verdan asked Shadow for one of his explody things, holding out his hand to accept the object.
((Dude, give him the thingy please))

Lessien's page was full of shorthand writings. Notes and information flooded everywhere in no particular order. Lessien's green eye's looked over the boy's as the whispered. Turning her attention back to the teacher a snore rippled quietly through the room.
