Gold on this site is essentially a special feature that allows you to better customize your character and give them more "flavor", so to speak.
The basic means of gaining gold is by posting around the boards, where you will recieve 15 gold per post, (excluding certain out of character boards).
In the following threads on this board contain different options for what you may purchase with your accumulated gold. For the most part, this will require personal messaging Cain Ellatar to make your request and fulfill your purchase, although in some cases there are a few more pre-requisites, such as getting other members to pitch in and pledge support.
Finally, most options will also require the individual player to have a character profile in order to make their purchase, as that is where many of the options will be displayed
