When a day seems as dim ad bleak as such, sometimes the night and it's stars are not soothing enough to satisfy eyes. Though the docile waters of this particular place had a certain allure, a perfect place to let time pass while relaxing. She had been here before, though not on many. She expected a certain solitude, however she soon was bypassed by a canine, running quickly. Her thin hand brushed on it's back, feeling the animal's soft coat, wishing it a well journey. The night's creatures greeted her presence, chirping and calling. The distance showed the gleam of the waters, and within it was the moon's own self cast upon the surface. A glimmering figure appeared to be looming over the edge, a lost, unrested soul. Approach it, she did.
Ghosts were familiar, as were spirits. See, dear reader, the one named after the word "insidious" knew the differ between a ghost and a spirit. She knew much about each, but until she could truly see the apparition, and wittiness it's actions, there was not much to decide. Not only does she understand the risen dead, she has the ability to converse, to call. That would be something she could never loose, nor the ability to destroy such souls, but, that box is locked, the key somewhere unknown.
Behind the apparition she stood, casting an ominous shadow through it, slicing the water's reflection. Such a contrast, it's illumed presence compared to her dark one. The disembodied one's light was like a lantern, showing her pale skin, dark hair, dark eyes, and warm colored, red dress. She said nothing. The first step is always to let it act, and then to judge.

Insidia nodded as the apparition made vocal sounds. At this time she had reason to believe it was an intelligent spirit, uncorrupted and 'sane'. Although it appeared female, there is always the chance it were a harsh, and very smart demon, with that knowledge, Insidia kept her same distance. She was told one day she could conjure such evil things, a lifetime of fear it would bring, and only time and her practice would prove it or let her be safe.
"I can." She answered, although something dead and left over may not be able to 'hear' her voice correctly, with hope, the nod moments ago would give assurance.
Putting her hair behind her small ears, Insidia dared to take a step closer. She begged within her thoughts that if this 'thing' turned around, it would not have a hideous face from hell. It would also be good fortune if it remained calm, silent even. What was once a nice walk to be alone, is now something not.

"then how can you see me" she turned fully to face Insidia"I am not a demon of evil just a lost soul or even the unquiet dead"she said looking at the girl.

Silent and stealthly a creature approached. Phasing in and out from a boundry that was both visible and not. Perhaps a 4th dimension of sorts that only certain beings could possibly travel through. What was thought was solid matter this borque creature weaved it's way through. However as it was just idoly traveling near, it paused and remained with the majority of it's body phased through the ground. The tip of it's head where the eyes would probably be positioned were all that was visible or at least the end that appeared to be it's head.
It then began to slowly approach the spirit and the woman that was there. Slowly drifting towards them like a snake swimming through the surface of water. Silent as a hunter and seemingly dimwitted it approached. It then emerged from the ground with it's two single sickled talons branching off it's body. It's full body visible as the predator made no noise as it seemingly floated there in the air. It's body tangible to this world but then again it wasn't. It slowly approached the two once again.
The creature was known as a sliver and anyone that had encountered one such as this would know that this was a Shadow Sliver. It was within striking distance of the soul that was wandering. It made for a slash that upon contact would cause the ghost to actually bleed. Though the blood would not be physical blood, it would still serve as a threatening wound that would show the possiblity of a spirit being completely erased from the plane of existance.

Before she could react to the apparition, their meeting was interrupted by a strange looking creature. One she had never seen before, almost like a mutated insect. As Insidia's eyes watched the strange creature arise, her eyes widened. Malicious they seemed, unfriendly, untamed and unwilling to spare anything. The serpentile "thing" was most threatening.
One thing she were not stubborn of was when she must leave a scene. This was one of those where she may end up profusely injured, and possibly death would bring it's scythe to her through the creature. A quick spin on her heel was all that she needed to turn her back to this apparition and the massive creature which came even more foreword. With much haste she ran, heading off into no destined way, though any place which was far enough so that safety was hers.
{Feh, short post. Sorry, not much could be done. This lady knows when it's time to fly instead ov fight! }

Rith made his way down the beaten path he had found as he ventured beyond the hidden city of Aesir. He remembered a beautiful lake in the area where he had frequently visited in the past and thought time at such a serene scene would do him some good after the ordeal he had recently experienced in the deep, dark dungeon of the Castle.
Though, his Bag of Tricks was gone, Rith retained one of his original Puffers so that he could still work his magic. The fine fibers about the formerly dandelion spore-like item were now mussed and slightly soiled. Not of its original luster, to be sure. He held it snugly in his hand as he walked, his khaki cloak flapping about in the breeze behind him.
Suddenly, something had caught his eye. The form of a young woman running in his direction. Was she mad? At this rate she would be running right into the jurisdiction of Avaren, and by the look of it, she was no Steel-Slinger. Springing of his latest step, Rith proceeded into a run to intercept this woman, the look of concern unable to wash from his face.
"Miss! Miss, what is the matter? Why do you flee?" Rith called out to the woman at a resonably high volume when he was sure to be in her earshot at least as he continued to close in on her.

Stopping, well, nearly tripping to the stop, she breathed heavy, looking at the man before her. Moisture covered her face, she shook her head at him frantically.
"No! Do not go that way! There-there is a demonic fiend! And, and, a large serpent creature! You mustn't!" Insidia shouted back to him in desperation. "It would be lunacy! I have to leave, they may be following!"
With her hastily words, she looked behind her, a fast glance, just to see nothing but dark night. It were not worth the chance to stay any longer. With all hope she could feel, she wished this man would follow her warning.
Grasping the edge of her long dress, she continued her fast paced leave. A ghost that read minds, and a strange creature...not the sort of thing she would enjoy staying around if she did not wish to meet the reaper.
{ heh, shes gotta go, I don't wanna keep her in 2 places at once, besides in either case she would run. }

"Is that so? Quickly then, you must make haste. Aesir is but a short trip away. I will hold off the beasts myself so that you may escape." Rith replied boldly as he pointed the way to Aesir. He would not allow a comrade to become a meal for some malevolent creatures. Nor would he allow her to try and change his mind from this decision.
With that, Rith took off in the direction that the woman had come from swiftly as he readied his soiled, lone Puffer between his thumb and a pair of fingers. It would not be an easy battle, but if he could hold them off long enough so the woman could get to safety, then his job would have been done.

While the woman that fled for her life did so, little did she know that she was being hunted by another one of these magical creatures. The serpentile insectiod creature remained stealthly behind. Though this one was different from the one before and possessed a pseudo head. It only existed for one purpose and that was to cause it's prey to defend itself against the false attacker. The hunter sliver possessed the same ability as the one that attacked the spectre that was at the original location as well as it's own.
It paused for a moment, but only briefly to find that someone else approached and made a detour. It was a male of the human species and he had walked past the hunter. The creature that observed wasn't thinking nor did it need to think. It just knew what was needed to be known. It slowly approached like the earlier, though this one didn't bother to hide itself from it's prey. It silently slithered forward to eventually be within attacking distance.
Then with a lunge like a snake would launch it's head to make for it's bite, the sliver's whole body lept forward it's two talons stretched forward ready to strike. It's pseudo head positioned ahead of the real head as it's defense. It was within range and it didn't even let out a sound but the razor sharp talons that were cutting through the air.

Rith continued to swiftly run in the general direction of the supposed danger. As he ran, he heard the sharp whistle of wind made by a sharply-swung object, but it was too late for him to evade. The sickle-like appendage had gotten itself aqquainted with Rith's left leg and was making quite the impression. Rith called in pain as he fell to his knee, looking back to the foul beast.
"Gah...Two heads? Serpentine? Bladed forelegs? What matter of beast is this?" Rith queried aloud as he quickly examined the creature, the pain from his wound coarsing through his body. Rith shook off his confusion, closing his eyes tightly, if he hesitated much longer, this...thing could very well overtake him. So, after focusing on the object in his hand breifly, Rith threw the dusty grey object towards the mysterious creature. With a loud "BANG!" the object once again exploded in a cloud of smoke. No more than a second or two later, a mighty roar came bellowing from the mote before a large mail lion sprung forth from the smoke, its claws readied, and its fangs bared as it moved to pounce the beast.

The hunter sliver recoiled itself away from the smoke. It remained still and motionless as if it where nothing but an inorganic substance. It was then that the lion appeared infront of it. Another target for prey, the red skinned creature gazed forward with no eyes to distinguish whether it was looking at the lion or not. Both the psuedo head and real head where moving slightly from side to side as if it was confused, but in reality was far from it.
While the lion and Rith were distracted by the one sliver, the shadow sliver from before approached from behind. It had taken care of the appirition for good and was creeping up from behind Rith. It had heard the call of that the other sliver had sent out. This one was using a totally different style of approached. However, as it approached another appendage was growing off of it. As the stub grew it soon formed a false head just like the second.
And as the other sliver was drawing near, the hunter sliver's seemed to change somewhat. It's hide becoming slightly more translucent of sorts or distorted. It then slowly sank into the ground before the lion could create a successful pounce. And as the hunter phased into the ground, the first sliver sprung forward to deliver another slash towards Rith. Though this one would not cause any physical wounds, but cause damage to the spiritual of the being causing a pain like no other to be felt through out Rith's body.

Rith's eyebrow cocked as he watched the monster take on a semi-ethereal state before sliping into the ground, evading the Lion's pounce. He did not have much time to ponder the Sliver's oddly sudden defense mechanism, for then he felt a soul-shattering blow that caused him to scream out in agony. This sudden attack caused his focus to break, returning the Lion he conjured into its original form.
"Ah...Another one? And nothing I can seem to touch them since that other one came around..." Rith stated analyitically as he scuffled away, sizing up the new creature which looked similar to the first despite a few physical characteristics. "Perhaps a head-on approach against these beasts isn't the wisest strategum. Now you just hold still..." Rith said, thinking aloud as he affixed a tight gaze upon the Sliver, studying it for a short while as he continued scuffling slowly away, careful not to make any sudden moves.
The lone Puffer on the ground then erupted once again with a loud "BANG!" into a cloud of white smoke. Slithering out from the mote of smoke came another Shadow Sliver, or at least a reasonable fact-similie thereof. He hoped the beasts before him weren't smart enough to realise his faux-Sliver was indeed fake as his Sliver came winding up to him and between the other two.
(I cleared this with Cain, so please talk with him if you think this sweep-worthy)

((Nah, don't worry about it. I find it perfectly acceptable and your character wasn't really my target but either way lets just have some fun.))
The shadow sliver gazed forward at the puff of smoke that had appeared. Knowing good and well that this simply meant that a false replica would be made. However, it wasn't necessarily prepared for what was to emerge. It was another sliver of the same type. The real sliver moved it's true head back and forth trying to figure out what was going on. It was attempting to communicate to the creature but wasn't receiving any response.
The pseudo creature had to be either false or a traitor to the hive. Perhaps it wasn't responding because it was a defect of some sort. Either way, the only question that the original sliver remained in it's instictive mind was whether it was a part of the Hive or not. Did it recieve the benefits of a sliver or was it a mere doppleganger.
The second sliver then emerged to the side of of Rith. Creating a perfect ninety degree triangle with Rith serving as the vertex for the right angle. It's true head moving in a similar manner to that of the prior. The hunter sliver remained still besides it's head motion. It was just as confused about the pseudo sliver as the other. It then began to slowly advance towards Rith and the fake sliver. It was when it was within striking distance that it attacking provoking the fake to defend itself if it was capable to see what it really was.
