And then...there the city was before the double voids which belonged were eyes of a stranger. She took her breaths in deeply, letting the people and the area become real inside her thoughts. The daydream of reaching this place coming into a truth, no longer a dream at all. Her frail left hand reaching into her long blackened hair, her fingers twirling through the strands.
With her lips quivering, Insidia turned her eyes to the one beside her once more, she nodded to him once. A loose breath fell out from her lips into the air. Her aching muscles, fatigued body and mind, all desired this place far more than her conscience thoughts.
Though this daydream, it would lead to an inquiry of her worth to enter and to rest. It seemed before this wish could come to be true, it would be filled with the most abhorrence.

He watched as they approached the city gates. He was waiting to see what was to happen and what would take place. In his mind, he only hoped that himself and the woman that he was with wouldn't be questioned. The less questions asked the better for this moment in time and it was best that neither of them looked supicious. He himself looked like himself, though he was battered and bruised and near complete exhaustion. His judgement cloudy and his ability to think properly was fading as fast as his stamina.
David Augustine nodded towards Insidia slightly, but not enough to be completely noticed as she took the lead into the city gates. Her appearance was definitely fitting that of a harlet that would wander the streets attempting to appease men for her bodily goods for money. He himself had the appearance of a warrior that had just escaped death itself which wouldn't be that surprising since it wouldn't have been the first time of something to that degree to happen.
He stepped forward once again and continued to focus on the road ahead. His spear was being used as a walking stick and his blue eyes constantly scanning in front of him. So far it didn't seem that much trouble was going to happen. He closed his eyes to help himself relax though he knew that they weren't in the clear yet.

She began to be overcome with more worry as she were so close to the city. This inquiry would be far more than just annoying, it would be dangerous. She had nearly lost her sanity only moments ago with the forest around around her, and stuff felt as if it could happen once more. Her own body felt all as dead weight, heavier than ever before, even her eyelids felt as if they could not stand to be opened any longer. Insidia began to nearly hallucinate, as maybe she thought someone was beside her, yet it was someone she saw ahead, or a tree moving from its rooted area.
"I could literally fall on the ground and sleep, at this moment." She muttered to David, slowly continuing her walk.
Insidia kept quiet for some time, dwelling on what she had gotten herself into this time, wondering just why she did. Just like a little dark cloud over her head all the time it was. She seemed so small in this area, there was nothing which was not threatening about it, it felt so much more grand than where she resided. Her hand flipped at her damp hair, throwing it behind her shoulders, its long strands heavily falling onto her back. Her left leg mored foreword in a step, though with such fatigue the step failed and caught her right ankle, causing her to stumble, luckily not to fall. She heard a crack at the bottom of her heel, its structure ready to break.

"I think that goes for all of us." David replied back to Insidia. It really wasn't that much of a mutter but it wasn't louder than all of the noise that was going on around them. The various voices and shouts of individuals that were passing through the gates and getting questioned. He continued to walk forward using his spear as a walking stick of sorts though he had fixed his posture a bit to fit someone of his class.
With his two swords in their sheathes and strapped to the back of his waist, David continued to lead though not straying far from the woman that he was with. He planned on acting that he was guiding a newly hired hand to his abode though something told him that wasn't going to be enough and that more was going to be necessary. He would be prepared for when that was needed as of now, he would keep with his own thoughts and nothing more.
His blue eyes were constantly darting from one invidual to the next. Hoping that no one would stop them and question or inspect them. David didn't feel that none of his was necessary. He remembered before he had left that this city was welcoming to both warriors and mages. What could have occured during his absence that caused the mages to have to suffer like this. He only hoped that this wasn't the only place that mages called home.

The 'everyone is out to get me' started to infest her weak conscious, her eyes too looked at everyone, at times thinking they had been staring. She began to wonder why everyone made such a fuss about using arcane abilities. Some was purely natural, what could be wrong with that? The matter was she could never do even such pure and natural magic, whether it was permitted or not. Her thoughts continued to be do more than race as she walked slowly through the area. Oh, thats right, they are staring at her. She looked worse than the common city slut. Insidia quietly shunned herself by hanging her head lower. She groaned and one of her hands of ran through he hair, pushing it through her fingers.
"This is too much." she said, and bent over, she had forgotten her legs were covered by thigh height stockings, they had fallen below her knees. She grabbed the top of the material which had a pretty lace embroidered, and raised it back to the middle of her thigh, as well as the other. "The least I can do while still looking the way I may need to while keeping some dignity."
Insidia found herself nitpicking at absolutely everything, anything to keep her awake. She had to keep her mind busy...And they were still staring...and they were all, even the women, all larger than her.
"Why is everyone so strong here and much taller?" she asked, where she came from the women were around her height, and thin.

David stopped as Insidia made her comment about being too much. He turned his gaze to look upon her as he watched her pull her stockings to about half-way up her thighs. He didn't say anything at the moment as there really wasn't anything to say. He simply looked and watched. There was no reason for any hurry or rush seeing as how they weren't going to be questioned anytime soon and where probably one of the individuals that weren't spotted as they passed through the gate. It seemed the fortune was on their side at the moment.
He arched a brow at Insidia's question as to why the women were so strong and much taller here. He looked around and saw what she was talking about. There were women that were taller than her and more muscular. Though he knew that not all women where like that. "Well, this is a warrior city." he answered, "There are women that choose to become a warrioress over a house wife. Thus they build their bodies as such. Though there are other women that are around your size here." He then turned back around and began to walk along the street that lead away from the gate. He wasn't paying any attention to the stares as it didn't bother him.

"Warrior city, you say?" Insidia questioned
This was becoming more of a mess as the day went on it seemed. Though it did amuse her that in this place women could be strong, in fact it was pleasing. Yet, even so if there are women like her around, she still felt small and out of place. A place with strong women and no otherworldly powers, it seemed nothing less than strange.
Though she began to realize there was not much at all to complain about, no one had done more but stare. No questions, no concerns, no suspicion. It was calming, though too calming, she could swear it made her want to collapse asleep. Her legs felt like they were going to break, her muscles going to tear.
"What now?" was all she asked, knowing nothing else to do or say

David nodded his head to Insidia's reply though he said no more on the subject. It wasn't totally clear as to what everything that was happening. It didn't seem correct. He had seen everything as they approached that showed the signs of warding off mages and other things, but yet they were not to be questioned or searched at the moment. It would only be a few more feet before himself and Insidia would totally be in the clear. And then from there several more yards worth of walking to the steps of his manor. This city wasn't that much, but it was the largest one that was ran by warriors.
He turned his gaze to face the adulterous looking woman. She fitted the part well with her appearance. He smiled and gazed around again noticing that the males were looking upon her as well. Some of them with lust while others turned their face away as if to shun Insidia. The women whispering amongst themselves as they saw the woman that was walking with David. Though he paid them no mind as to this matter. He decided to stop looking around and begin to walk forward.
"We'll go to my manor." David answered her question softly, "We'll be much safer inside of there than here. And then perhaps I can find out what's going on after I rest for a bit."

Ah, their stares, she noticed them, the eyes. Those eyes seemed to be slimy, coming from such slimy creatures that not even the night could hide. Knowing she were being watched was far more different then knowing just how their eyes did look. Theirs had colors expression, she could see much, it took not magic to see their thoughts.
But, would these stares not make all's attention turn? There must have been something amiss, if all the townspeople had their eyes addicted to something, would the officials not intend to be sure all was right? Of course they would, indeed. Even she knew that.
If not for steps and whispers and common speech, silence...
"Safer?" She finally questioned after many seconds had passed.
Perhaps, this was far more strange than it appeared. She knew not of danger emitting from stares and lack of town guards. She was harming not a soul, nor was she imposing herself, she simply walked along side a local aristocrat. Perhaps the morning would illumine the dreary fog of uncertainty.

David nodded to confirm what he had spoken to Insidia. He was rather sure that his house would be safer than being out in the open streets of the Avaren. Though he wasn't completely sure of how everything was going to turn out. It was rather odd how empty the streets seemed despite what the queen was doing. Perhaps she was just scared or a coward and still hid behind the royal crest and her husband. Though it didn't bother him in the least as he continued to trudge through city through various streets.
OOC: Sorry for the short post, I just didn't really know how to reply.

"I see no danger, unless these commoners are murderous." Insidia spoke through their silence.
She nearly began to hallucinate, imagining those people were at lesser distances, speaking to her. She knew it would not be long before he mind snapped from its last string of good conscious.
"I come make my impression that I am a whore, that you would have one. For what? For nothing." Insidia began a frustrated rant "What kind of town promises inquisitions and fails to bring them? What...what...you had said they would inquire me! Bah! They do nothing but look and talk. If there was a dangerous witch, one would never know! I could have came here at least half the decency!"
Groaning, she walked with heavier steps, following with a prissy whine. The lack of sleep must have gotten to her emotions, it was highly unlike her to make such a fuss over anything. She would say more, however she was too tired to think of more words. As much as she complained, Insidia kept moving foreword, though with an unpleased look upon her face.

"I apologize." David spoke in response to Insidia's comment. He could sense the frustation that was coming from her. It wasn't very comfortable sensing something like that. He simply continued to walk. "Apparently, something is wrong or their attention wasn't heavily focused towards us. It was my words that made you adjust your appearance and I shouldn't have let you so. It seems that there is either something of greater importance or you simply fitted your acting very well."
OOC: Blah...I just can't think right now.

Insidia's eyes fell halfway closed, even her emotions and thoughts became tiring. Though, as was everything, it had to get worse before it could get better. She began to question this man's morals and just how blue his blood was.
"Your city allows whores to be in the company of your streets?" She rhetorically asked, finding the situation far fetched.
Or how red was it? He seemed all too average, unlike most rich snobs. At this moment she felt he was just as ignorant as a commoner. Though perhaps her lack of sleep took kindness and optimism with it. This 'warrior' city was displeasing on it's first impression, that she knew.
"When will be upon your home?" Insidia spoke outwardly, without a care that it may be rude to ask, and giving him no title.

"Oye you!" shouted a voice behind the couple. The voice was made to sound gruff due to the fact that the person speaking had just run a considerable ways and that the sound was muffled and distorted slightly by a passing couple of people.
"Halt right there!" he said, causing the people blocking him to move swiftly out of his way, a benefit of having some sort of raking position with the cities warriors.
Coming upon David, Rotiart wasted no time slapping him heartily on the back in a way of greeting, "Hello there, didn't expect to be seeing you again. I spotted you from the walls, as you're not an easy character to miss, and ran straight out to meet you, so excuse me if I take a moment to catch my breath," he said, even while taking a few large gasps for air.
"I don't suppose you know all that's going on 'round here nowadays, do ya? I never figured you for the type to be up to date with local events, although if you are, then you know you shouldn't be tromping all over town.....er....especially with the company you keep." he said, speaking slowly, choosing his words carefully now so as not to offend David.
"I mean, begging your pardons a thousand times over," he said quickly to Insidia, "But, I mean, there are certain stereotypes people adhere to mostly, so it's not much I can do about it."

A yell echoed through the air and reached David's ears. He slowly turned around to see a figure approaching him as fast as the individual's feet could carry him. He didn't recognized the person at first though after a couple of minutes identfied him as the current gate keeper. A small bead of sweat formed and ran down his face as he was very exhausted. The greeting from Rotiart and the slap on the back might've been a bit too much for even David to handle at this current state. He almost buckled over to end up falling onto the ground.
He stopped himself as best he could, but with great difficulty. He looked the warrior in the eyes as he spoke. "You would be correct in that assumption." David replied regarding not knowing everything of what's going on, "All I saw was the dragon head near the gate. Something that wasn't there from before. I took it as an ill-omen for those with gifted abilities." He looked towards Insidia as the gate keeper picked his words carefully and spoke. It was true that he wouldn't have been a very hard to spot. Especially, in his exhausted condition and worn clothes. There were tears and stains here and there from injuries and other such things.
"This woman found me on the brink of death in the dark forest as I was returning here." David explained to Rotiart, "She helped me to move forward and doesn't pose any threat. I gave her the deal to provide shelter for her if she was to help me get back here. She'll be staying at my manor with me for that time. Though she was the one insisted on helping me in the first place. Also, any important news that is needed to be known now would be very helpful."
