David watched as Mazus approached him. He had been in battlefields and seen how people fought with axes, but he had never really squared off with them one-on-one. He watched slowly as the other warrior slowly start heading towards David. Each step the axe wielder seemed to pick up his pace until he was going as fast as he could with that weapon. In his mind, David was running several scenerios of what he could possibly do. However, there was no clear choice to make. He kept his blue eyes focused on his opponent.
He then made the decision as Mazus came in range. As he was swing his axe towards his ribs, David lowered himself closer towards the ground. He met his axe with the blade of the long sword. It's blade was almost completely vertical. However, he it wasn't meant to stop the attack so he inverted it and then used it to guide it over his head. He then rose back up quickly pulling his sword wound back and ready to strike with a diagonal slash from his lower left. He then brought the sword back to the ready after regaining slight control over it. He was by no means an expert swordsman, but he was taught that to truly master a certain weapon that using other weapons would be necessary.
