Member of the Month

As the subject says, I think having a member of the month would be a nice addition. Members of the site could either vote for the member of the month in a poll of 5 active people or so, or the admin could choose who they think would be the best. Then the person's name could be displayed on the welcome table, and a person would only be able to win once.

It's just a suggestion. Tell me what you think, everyone. ^_^

It may be nice, though there is a flip side. Depends on the maturity ov the members on this forum. It may end up as a popularity contest or cause squabble, since I really don't know any ov the members I can't make a valid opinion. But I think everyone should consider what I had said.

Though, also, what would be the purpose? Someone to look up to as an ideal member to this forum?

I think that we should do this. It would definately boost moral around the site, not saying we have any problems with that, and it would give the people who really try hard here a chance to be recognized. I think it's a great idea.

Hmm, best is to see who is the most active and helps this site alot, so we'll take the person as a good example... but it also has its down sides, like what Shadow and DEMIGODDESS said. OR ? I dunno.

The purpose would just be to recognize a member who follows the rules, is active, has good RP abilities, and knows lots of others. Even if it does turn into a popularity contest, then people will RP more often and try to improve their skills to be recognized and voted as the next one.

I agree with Mira. I think it would improve the site as a whole one the skills and every one striving to do better. Is that not part of role playing any way? To improve yourself even if it's just in your creativity and not your writing skills...

Hmmm.... that does actually sound like a good idea, especially since it is currently near the end of the month.

I would imagine it would be creating a thread titled "Member of the month voting" or something similar, then having people drop in and vote for their choice.

It would be kinda like a popularity contest in a way, yet a lot of the time friendlier people who post frequently and do a decent job at it are the most popular, so there wouldn't be too much terribly wrong with it.

The best way to set this up would be to list criteria for which you vote on, don't you agree? For example, O.O.C. friendliness, Role Playing/Writing skill, et cetera. As well as putting a conduct notice so theres no fights, just in case.

well...i like the idea of the "member of the month"...i believe that no one here would be so childish to start quareling about it...we are not exactly little children,are we? so i think it is a good idea...
