Has anyone noticed a sudden influx of new members that, in turn, disregard any of the new statutes we have just emplaced and have been posting not so thought through posts. i'm not trying to be a pain, or a rat, but just trying to keep the site from going like the last one. If we have people just spamming again, whatever they want and call it a post ,then the other, more seasoned RP'ers are gonna quit due to annoyance. Its hard enough to have people who know how to rp by the rules and with care to the idea of the story but are not on often. But throw in a bunch of nubes, (for lack of a better word) and have them break the rules we just worked hard to enforce and post poor threads just for the sake of posting, and we have a problem my friends. It was part of the reason why people left the old site. Now I'm not going to point fingers, but Alezand has left a note with a pair of new members who missed the fact that magical creatures (or weapons, if that does apply to anyone reading this) have to meet the requirments because of the problems faced in the past with such things. The barest rule if memory serves is that have to be level four to own anything. Now, many of us who had come over from the old site had to get rid of weapons and creatures and even houses that they had to fit these regs. I guess I'm just really just afraid that bad things are going to happen again, and deploying right now as I am, this site is one of my main stress relievers and ways to kill time. If you are reading this and you fall under the category mentioned, please adjust your writing o accomidate. I'm not trying to be an ass. besides, it'll save you trouble from the admin and royalty. And trust me, you don't want them on you. cheers...

I love you.
And also, another reason I want to rip my eyes out on a daily basis is people not using correct grammar or spelling. Grammar is one thing, you may be in 1st grade and not know it. However, THERE IS A SPELL CHECK BUTTON RIGHT AT THE BOTTOM OF THE REPLY BOX. USE IT!!!5
In addition, even first graders know to capitalize the first letter in a sentence and spaces after periods and periods at the end of sentences. I can understand one or two typos: maybe you were rushing, maybe you didn't notice it. But to make eighteen grammatical errors in a two-line post [not a literal example. Made the numbers up on the spot]? That's just embarrassing.

Yes, I noticed it. And I personally though, "Oh sweet Satan, not this again.". Cain and I chat often over MSN and I would have mentioned it to him, only, he hasn't been on. I'm sure he will resolve the problem. Seriously, just ignore it. That's what I'm going to do, It's bad enough people let their characters use the most modern slang possible in a medieval area, and now people disregarding the actual rules further. I understand people want to join and have fun, and be different. Hell, I didn't like the level tree, but I did it because it's part ov the rules and I wanted to try out the forum.
Usually I wouldn't complain and such out in the open, but I really think people, and new member need to realize a few things. At first I was unsure of a few things, I asked for clarification. That's all that needs to be done. And there's never an excuse to not read the rules, and the same goes for reading and disregarding. Why is it so hard to follow rules?! This forum, and I think every forum has them!
Have you guys tried PM'ing the new ones making mistakes? If they were personally interfering with something I was involved in, I would.
Maybe we need to post what it was like back then. And maybe more detailed rules. Hell, I don't know! I'm a mere member, but I can tell theres a few issues that need to be fixed.
A few typos is fine, a few mistakes. But yes, theres spell check for a reason. I guess I'll need to give Cain the code for spell check in quick reply.

Agrees. (Any more than one word, and I start to get offensive.)

Heh, I've noticed it as well. I've had the same new member attack two of my already long threads with posts that pretty much say: "I come inside and pwn everyone and call for the guards." Except with horrible grammar. Everyone has pretty much said everything that I would have said, though, so I don't have much else to add. ^_^

Hmmm.....things always seem to happen over the weekend when I'm away, don't they?
Well then, first off, I gotta point out that everyone has to start somewhere and almost all of us were noobs sometime.
On that same note, there are admittedly some who probably don't care to attempt to improve unless outside forces act upon them..... in that case, if you really have a problem with someone's RP-ing, PM them about it. Try to talk to them and perhaps you can get somewhere.
Also, if you feel they are really just causing problems, feel free to PM me about it and tell me your problems. I'm here for a reason, remember? ^_^

Most of the time, not even the forces work. They meet other nubs and RP in their own little world of 2-word posts, occasinally coming out to taint other threads. And if told to use correct grammar (even the simplest things like capitalizing the first letter in a sentence) they ignore you.

I don't plan on leaving Avaren because of a bunch of noobs. Rather, when I get a hang of Junior year, I'll come back and blow the little buggers up.

Agreed, and to answer your question Insidia, Tyanno had mentioned that I did send them a message. Whether they responded accordingly, that is another matter I have to check on, but unfortunately I have to go for now, ttyal, on this I will

I agree with the sentiments put forth by Muryllis, especially, though as a level two char, I really can't just go and "blow them up." I hate being level two... Seriously, though, I think Muryllis has the right idea, and I would do the same, if I could. Some of them are really annoying me. Oh, keep in mind that I have another char, so I am not just complaining about things happening to other people. I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea...

Ultimately, when it comes to people who really get on your nerves. If you can't first work with them and talk to them to help them improve, like the nice people I know you all are, then try not to cause conflict with them. If they are seriously causing problems and nothing you do can help, then use the report to admin function so I can know when/where this problem is and fix it. The report to admin button should be right there in the bottom of each of their posts for you to use:
