Floating thirty feet in the air was a structure not unlike the one Ariadne had had her fun in; except that, unlike the massive metal building, this was a simple log cabin, measuring twenty feet by thirty. Like Ariadne's, this one featured a rope ladder hanging down from the porch, a symbol of the Master's undying love for a challenge to his students - that, or his inner laziness.
When Shadow walked inside, he would see a layout that, unknown to him, was one the instructor used a lot during his years of testing; inside, the cabin was comfortably furnished. Near the door was the dining table, an egg-shaped one surrounded by six chairs. On it were plates, bowls, knives, forks, spoons, and two tall candles. One the otherside of the table was the kitchen area, complete with pans and bowls all other kinds of implements, even including magical running water. Near the kitchen was a massive fireplace, the kind used for cooking large meals as well as heating the house; it was roaring happily, with about ten massive logs piled up inside. The rest of the room consisted of normal objects found in a non-magical homeowner's cabin; a bed, writing desk, chairs, and other things; the crown jewel was a massive armoire, towering about nine feet and fitting snugly between the floor and the ceiling.
Dozing peacefully on a rocking chair was the instructor himself, dreaming of all the fun things he would do to his student. As soon as he entered, Muryllis snapped awake, that sinister smile returning to his face. "Lets have some fun, eh?"

Shadow laughed. "it depends on what you would call fun." He shook his head, hoping that it didn't involve throwing and or deflecting sharp objects. "well, I am here, and ready." He looked around as he spoke, observing his surroundings. the cabin was relatively small, but it had enough room to maneuver, and plenty of obstacles. Shadow looked back at his instructor. "so... what dose this round of testing entail?"

"Fun indeed," the Weaver replied. "This part of your test," he began to explain, "will make use of your skills, ability to strategize, and ability to maintain your stamina to their fullest extent. Be warned, however," and at this, his expression turned grave - with a bit of sinister glee, "that once the fun has begun, your life is on the line; a student of mine in years long past was much like you, and his lack of fear resulted in a very... gruesome death in this very test setup." He then laughed.
"But be not afraid; he simply went insane from physical and mental exertion, and he ran out the door and jumped off before I could stop him." Not that I couldn't have stopped him in midair; I never much liked that moron. "Now then, your test is quite simple: you shall be left alone in this room, and the door shall be left open if you wimp out and decide to forfeit; if you survive and manage to win, you have passed this part of the test and may await my verdict. If you leave beforehand, you automatically fail. Simple enough; any other questions before I leave you alone?

Shadow laughed. "so you obviously know that the fearlessness is a false bravado." Shaking his head, he listened to the description of the other mage's failure. Sounds like what my brother did... i wonder... He shook his head again, clearing his thoughts. he didnt need that kind of thing interrupting his train of thought. "yes, I do have a question." He dropped the fearlessness, looking curiously at the instructor. "did... gah, never mind, remind me after the test about the young mage that fell to his death." he nodded, dropping the curiosity. "what if i get thrown from the building by something not of my doing? Other than that, im ready."

"Haha, I don't think the room's smart enough to throw you out the door; besides, it'll prefer to do you in inside, not outside." Before walking out, he added, "Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the entire point of the test: this room is bent on killing you. Cheerio!" He then walked out, closing the door behind him but leaving it unlocked; seeing as there were no windows, the student inside was left only with the light of the candles and the roaring fire in the fireplace. Remembering that fact, he peeked in and added, "Opening the door in general will mean you forfeit and fail. Have fun!"
The candles; one of them shifted suddenly, almost as if turning to face Shadow; in fact, it was. The flame flickering happy on its head, this candle jumped off the dinner table, landing first on a chair, then finally on the floor. With the flame still alive, it made its way, hopping, towards Shadow; the candle felt like lighting all the wizardly pieces of cloth decorating Shadow on fire. How fun.

Shadow nodded. so, the house is trying to kill me, eh? I wonder how long I have to survive for... Shadow shook his head. He would last for however long he needed. Seeing teh candle leaping towards him, he shook his head. "this is crazy..." he waited untill it was relatively close to him before jumping over it, landing behind it. before it could react, he licked his finger and extiguished the flame. looking around, he walked over to the one empty corner and put his back to the wall. "now what..."

The candle was pissed. How could a pathetic little human extinguish something as esteemed as the flame atom a candle? That was the last straw; hopping back onto the table, the heavy candlestick began to jump on the wood planks, wanting until the shaking caused a sharp knife to slip through the cracks and...
Perfect; the knife got stick halfway through, the blade pointing at the ceiling. Bending down low, the candlestick impaled itself with the knife; now, even though it didn't have a flame with which to light its opponent on fire, it did have a sharp knife sticking out of its body with which to stab the sucker. With this happy thought flashing through the candle's magical mind, it hopped once more off the table and proceeded to make its way to Shadow, getting ready for the final leap that would plunge the knife deep into his leg.

((??)) ((shadow be nimble.... shadow be quick... Shadow jump over the candlesttick with a knife in it!!??)) Shadow looked on in mild confusion as the candle proceeded to stab itself with the knife, then hopped over and tring to use the knife to stab shadow. Stepping over the candle stick one more time, he held it in place with magic and pulled the blade out from it, proceeding to squash the wax abomination with his heel after tossing the knife into the wall. "O...k... this house Is really weird..." He sighed, pulling the half squashed wax off his boot and tossing it away once again.

((It is prefered that you treat your current opponents as you would another player; they are not NPCs, but active manifestations of Muryllis's magic - godmodding is forbidden. No further warning will be given.))
The second candlestick which decorated the dinner table was astonished; this massive creature had completely destroyed its best friend! No, that would not do; tilting up to look at one of the kitchen cupboards, it was happy to see one of the doors suddenly open. Out of it came a bottle, landing on the wooden floor such that it did not break open - it was evident that some liquid sloshed around inside. Hopping over to Shadow (easy enough, for the house wasn't at all big), it hurled itself into the air, crashing down with enough force to break open, spraying the boy with its contents. Upon further inspection using the nasal impliment, Shadow would soon find that he had been sprayed with good ole' Moonshine.
Three more bottles popped out, breaking against the walls in order to coat Shadow - as well as the surrounding furniture, which promptly shook itself out - with the intoxicating substance; as they perished for the Cause, three new ones jumped out and did the same. Meanwhile, the knife Shadow had thrown into the wall managed to wedge itself out, hopping nimbly onto the floor and looking at the scene before it; it liked what it saw. Crouching down low, it shot itself past the boy's ear, landing cleanly inside the remaining candle, which burned with a flame of vengence. Now that Shadow was coated with the flammable concoction, it was simply a matter of getting within feet of the delicious vapor which soaked his clothing (and skin, and hair); one could almost imagine the candle laughing silently to itself, joined by the knife sitting patiently in its wax.

((sorry about that...)) Shadow spluttered as the bottles of liquid smashed around him, soaking him in the process. His cloak caught most of the liquid, but the first bottle almost coated him. Not to mention the fumes that were emanating from the puddle, making him want to vomit, but he forced the feeling away. There was a much bigger problem presenting itself. if this stuff goes up... there's a chance that the whole place will go up... Shaking furiously, like a dog, Shadow got most of the substance out of his hair and off his skin, leaving the matter of his clothes. Hmm... I wonder... keeping an eye on the ever nearing candle, he wrung a corner of his cloak into his hands. It produced a small amount of the highly flammable liquid, not much, but shadow deemed it enough. Using magic, he formed it into a sphere, shooting the sphere at the candle. maybe the candle will burn itself out before it can get to me... just for good measure, he shot a small magic blast along with it, intending to push it backwards. in the meantime, Shadow began to wring his cloak out as much as possible.

In a sudden blast of intoxicating goodness, the impaled candle was knocked back a few feet, simultaneously going up in flames. The extent of the blast was enough to suck all the oxygen away from its tiny wick; poor Mr. Candle sadly went out. However, unlike its dead brother, this one wasn't as suicidal. Instead of ending its life with an attempt to stab its opponent, this candle went in the opposite direction - towards the roaring fireplace. Once there, it tipped over and relit. Then, it jerked around a bit, almost as if silently conversing with the dancing flames. This turned out to be true - two of the two-foot-long flaming logs stood up and began to hop slowly towards Shadow, with Mr. Candle making his way over the table and to him. The mage was effectively outflanked - ten feet away on each side was a log, and coming closer and closer was the silently laughing candle.

((sorry for the wait...)) Shadow paled. "shiza...." But at least his cloak was dry. he decided to try something. lets see... approximately ten feet between the logs and me... seven between me and the candle...hmmm... I might be able to... He shot a disk of magical energy at the logs, but did it hurriedly. The path that the disks traveled ended up slicing the table in half and traveling to the faucet, which was sliced in half just as the energy disks died. This caused a fountain of water to erupt from the sink, as the water was no longer being stopped by a valve. Shadow smiled. Not what I expected.... but hey... might help... The water pressure leveled out, and now there was just a constant stream of water shooting out of the faucet. Shooting another disk of energy cut the drain pipe, and a puddle began to form, spreading across the floor. feeling the pipe with magic, he followed it to the original cutoff switch, the one that was 'connected' to the water main, however magically. using magic, he slowly turned it, after about an inch of water was evenly spread out on the entire floor, only seeping out the door. With the cutoff switch turned so that the flow of water entering the house was about equal to the flow leaving the house, he disconnected the magic and wiped a sweaty brow, looking wearily at the logs and candle after shaking the water out of his hair.
