As Verdan straightened up, he looked deep into Mira's eyes while she spoke. Suddenly, a feeling of rebellion sparked up inside him. He blurted out the first words that came to his mind. "Would you rather me kiss-" he caught himself mid-sentence. "Uhh... never mind... my apologies, Mira." he said, blushing a dark red hue at his own stupidity. He lowered his gaze, embarrassed at his insolence. How could he speak like that to a noblewoman? He sighed. How he longed that had he finished that sentence, the answer would be 'yes.' Alas, Verdan's eyes clouded over with something resembling sadness, it can never be. A noble and a commoner, even if the commoner was a mage...

((Ok. Next post, and Verdan shall leave. Unless you care to find out how that sentence is going to end. And one more thing. Would you mind if Verdan somehow took part in the "running away plot"?.. Say, Verdan runs into Mira on the street as she is leaving her house or something? You can PM me about it if you want))

((Lol, it’s a little too soon to be finishing that sentence. Give it a few more threads, maybe 2 more. You’ll see why eventually. Btw, the stables don’t count as one of the two. As for my plot goodness, sure. You just can’t recognize me at first. ^_^))

Verdan started talking again, but then stopped himself quickly. Mira jumped slightly, turning her gaze away from the lake and distant clouds that had just been building to eye Verdan. “I’m sorry, I wasn’t paying attention. What did you say?” she asked him, feeling a little regretful that she hadn’t been listening. He could have said something important!

Then he said never mind, so Mira just nodded, understanding that either he had forgotten what he said, or he shouldn’t have said it in the first place. After a few seconds, a distant boom of thunder was heard, and Mira realized exactly how late it had gotten. “Time sure does fly.” she said, shaking her head as she looked from the clouds back to Verdan. “I really should be heading home before the rain comes. It was nice meeting you, really.”

Verdan looks at Mira with an expression which he forced from an accusing one to something more soft. "I said those clouds look beautiful and it's not a sight you should miss." he said, making up the words on the spot, not wanting Mira to think anything bad of him. He gestured at the gathering clouds in the distance, pointing one of them out. "It looks like a dragon, see?"

Hearing the roll of thunder, Verdan averts his gaze to the horizon, seeing the setting sun. "Aye," he agrees, looking down even further to match Mira's glance. "It was a pleasure to meet you also. May I have the honor of escorting you home?" he asks, offering his hand to Mira with an ever so slight bow of his head, not so much as a sign of formality, but as part of the offering-his-hand gesture.

Mira glanced up at the clouds where Verdan pointed, vaguely seeing the billowy gray shape. After a long moment of her peering into the clouds, her eyes found a wing, and another, a tail, and then finally rested on the whole dragon. “You’re right.” she replied, smiling. “It does kind of look like a dragon. And the dark clouds would be rather striking, if I was inside.” she added after a moment, smiling wryly.

Then Verdan asked if he could escort her home, and offered her his hand. Smiling, she nodded her head ever-so-slightly and accepted his hand. At least the long walk home wouldn’t be such a bore.

((And then walked off into the sunset… lmao.))
