David kept walking towards Avaren with the other two behind him. His trail being left behind by the mud that he stepped in. His hands ready to grip whatever weapon was needed. Another flash of lightning casted a blinding light through the area. He stopped moving and looked down towards the path. David then looked around again as he wasn't paying any attention to his surroundings from being deep in thought. They were in the wooded area that surrounded citadel. Another roll of thunder could be heard overhead and another bolt of lightning flashed.
David jolted his gaze back towards whatever his eye caught. The dark outlines of something was before him some distance away. However, he could not exactly make out what it was. He placed his hand slowly on the pole of his spear and unslung it without making any sudden movements. He positioned his hands properly and positioned the spear into a defensive stance that would allow him to block the first attack and deal a decent counter. His blue eyes rushed from side to side trying to make out any movements. However, he saw none at the moment. He nodded and then walked forward with his spear in his two hands still.

Ariadne looked up at the precise moment David pulled out both of his spears. If someone was to attack them she would be ready. She didnt have the power of swords or spears but she had the power of the elements, that was good enough for her. Ariadne just calmly followed Verdan and Augustine. The most that worried her was that she was going to get the flu. Ariadne then sneezed. "Just great." Ariadne said sarcastically.

((Oy. Verdan was in front >.<))
Verdan, seeing David pause, also stopped abruptly in his tracks. Oh boy... he thought, carefully picking his hands up and slowly curling his fingertips, getting into the most convenient spellcasting position. He whispered a set of words and drew a complex character in the air directly in front of him. He had read about the energy shield before, but he hadn't thought he would have to use it anytime soon. It was a weak one, seeing as Verdan was no all-powerful archmage, and would only be able to withstand one or two direct blows before shattering, but it was some protection nevertheless.
Carefully prowling forward, Verdan also noticed something moving in front of him. However, seeing as David thought it safe to continue moving forward, so did Verdan. He followed the warrior, carefully treading, trying to be silent as possible. It was not wise to make noise in such a situation. That would only make it easier for the attacker to pinpoint their location.

It was quick and fast. A shadow rapidly moved through out the darkness. In fact, there was several of them. And within a short time the three individuals were surrounded. In the path infront of them was a pair of glowing red eyes. Within a few minutes they were visible all around them. David's eyes were straining against the darkness trying to make out what they were. However, to no prevail. There was a roar of thunder and then a flash of light from a lightning bolt. David tensed as the brief sight of the creature. Of course, do the lighting of the area these creatures seemed more terrifying then as if it were day light.
These creatures were similar to wolves but seemed to be a bit larger and more deadly. David wasn't able to see all the details of them, but he knew that they had large fangs and claws and that there was a pack of them here. His spear raised to the ready slowly as his eyes darted from one to another. He didn't dare look towards Varden or Ariadne or else he might suffer from being even slightly distracted. He didn't even dare to make any other sound except for him breathing. The rain wasn't helping either as it only seemed to hit him like small rocks that were falling from above.

Ariadne followed the mens footsteps. She noticed how both Verdan and David tensed up. She knew someone or somthing was therefor sure. "Why else would they be so tense?" Ariadne thought to herself. Ariadne lowered her hood slightly very slowly to see that they were surrounded by some creatures. They were related to the wolves family but they werent wolves...They were werewolves. It wasnt that hard to recognize them for what they are. The easiest way to killa werewolf is if a silver sword is stuck in them and Ariadne didnt have a silver sword. "I hope David knows that." Ariadne thought since hes the only one with swords. Another way is if theyre head is chopped off. "I just hope today isnt a full moon." Ariadne thought. If It was and one of them got bit they would become werewolves.
Her thoughts were stopped as the werewolfes started to growl. The only thing that could be heard are the growling of the feorcios werewolves and the sound of the rain hitting the ground.

Verdan froze in his tracks. They were surrounded by beasts of some sort. Looking closer, during a flash of lightning, he realized that they were wolves. Abnormally large, terrifying, ferocious wolves. "Oh boy..." Verdan muttered, "My first real battle and I have to be fending off doggies..." he said as he drew another character in the air in front of him while whispering and incantation, except this one did not fade away. It grew in brightness and morphed into a ball of extremely condensed energy about the size of someone's fist. This one was cast slowly, taking care into drawing out the proper symbol and verbalizing an incantation. It was not the weak, distilled thing that was shot at Ariadne some time ago. It had the power to kill. Verdan held the orb at the ready, waiting for one of the animals to pounce.
Realizing something, Verdan raised his voice over the sound of the rain. "Ariadne..." he said loud enough for her to hear, "Please tell me you can wield the fire element..."

David's eyes darted from one creature to the other. His spear held at the ready. His blue eyes staring at the glowing red eyes. His breathing started to become faster as aderinaline was starting to pump through his body. He was going to be prepared for this fight if it came down to it. He could here the werewolves growling and snarling. They were waiting for something and David wasn't going to allow himself to drop his guard while in this dangerous situation. His biggest concern however was the current position of the two mages that were with him.
Verdan spoke the first words that broke the noise created from the creatures and the rain. A flash of light from lightning illuminated the area and a roll of thunder deafened all other sound for seemingly after Verdan's statement. The first creature charged at David only to find themselves running to his spear. Another came towards him and using the leverage of the longer weapon he was able to slam the dead creature into another causing it to yelp in pain. Their attack had started and David puickly used the spear that was implanted in a body to sling him over to kick at a creature that had lept into the air. This stunt also caused his spear to go completely through the injuried wevewolf's body and kill it. With a large amount of force, David freed his spear from the creature's body and positioned it into the ready once more.

The creatures attacked suddenly and ferociously. The air was thick with howls, along with pouncing shapes. Verdan rolled out of the way of an extra large werewolf jumping upon him and as it landed upon the muddy earth, slammed the orb of energy into its ribcage. The smell of singed fur and burnt flesh filled the air as the creature let out one long cry of pain and died in a convulsion from the amount of raw energy that had been put through its body. Still on the ground, Verdan snatched up his staff which he had dropped as he was pounced upon, and rolled onto his back as another werewolf jumped onto him. Verdan held the staff out with two hands parallel to the ground, across his chest as the animal jumped on top of him, its jaws clamping, growling wildly, sending a bit of saliva dripping onto Verdan's face.

As Ariadne stood there. Thinking through what element she could use, her train of thought broke as she heard Verdan speak her name and then asked her. "Please tell me you can wield the fire element..." Ariadne slowly turned around to look at verdans face and shooke her head no. "But I can try." Ariadne replyed to him. Just as she turned around the wolves started attacking them. "This isnt going to be easy." Ariadne said through gritted teeth as a wolve pounced on her. The landed on the muddy ground. Ariadne managed to kick the wolve off of her. Ariadne looked around to see how the other two were doing. David was doing fine. But I cant say the same for Verdan. Ariadne started concentrating on fire. But as a fr\ire ball was forming in her hands it soon extenguished by the rain that was still falling from the clouds. Ariadne shrugged. the fire soon was replaced by a water ball that was thrown directly at the Wolf on top of Verdan. Causing the wolf to fly off Verdan.

A werewolf was lunging at Ariadne from behind, however, David slammed down with the blunt side of his spear and then twirled it and thrusted it into the beast. He glanced at the silhoute of the female mage and said nothing. Another one was coming towards him and he delivered a twirling slash, by holding the spear out while he spun around. This ended up as a combo that he ended using the momentum that was created into a flip and then a final thrust. The werewolf collapsed to the ground. It was affective, however, this left the spearman a bit dizzy.
One of the creatures then caught him off guard by slashing him with his claws. This sent David falling a few steps away. The creature lunged at him and David instinctively raised his spear to hold the massive jaws. He could feel the saliva dripping on him as he lifted his legs and pushed the monster off with his legs. He slowly rose up and unprepared as the creature came bounding towards him again.

As the werewolf was blasted off of Verdan, he wondered, about how unusual it is to see a raindrop of that size, and how it is not every day that one sees a raindrop flying parallel to the ground. After several moments of thought, Verdan realizes that it was Ariadne that saved him. Yelling a thanks and jumping up once more, Verdan bashed the skull of the nearest creature with his staff, sending it toppling to the ground. Enraged, it slowly got up pounced upon him. Verdan had barely enough time to let a wave of power wash over it while the animal was still in the air, sending it crashing directly back down to the ground.
Meanwhile, another werewolf was circling Verdan from behind. It jumped upon him, expecting an easy hit, but Verdan had prepared several minutes before. The animal hit the energy shield that Verdan put up before the fight and fell back onto the ground, injured. However, the shield was destroyed and Verdan was knocked to the ground from the unexpected hit, making him easy prey for the next attacker.

Ariadne was getting tired of it all. Theyw ould kill them but as soon as they kill one, twice as fold will more come. As Ariadne thought this a Wold was coming her way she exhaled air in the direction of its feet all the way to its head . The wolf was now a ice statue Ariadne kicked the statue and the wolf became little pieces of ice. As Ariadne spun around another wolf came at her and she was enraged. Fire was at the tips of her fingers. The now forming ball of fire didnt extenguish by the rain this time. It was too powerful. As it was ready to jump on her Ariadne threw it at the Wolfs chest as it collapsed to the floor and burned to dust.
Ariadne then realized she performed the fire element and she was overjoyed. She now welcomed the wolves attack.I guess you an say she performed it as an emotion of her fury.

David looked towards Ariadne as he pulled his spear out of another werewolf. The number seemed endless which was ridiculous. It was then made apparent to him what was going on. A flash of lightning revealed everything to him. It was two consecutive bolts in a row. He saw a dead werewolf or one that was thought to be dead. Then when the second bolt crashed illuminating the area, it was gone. He narrowed his eyes as he looked around and saw similiar feats. The werewolves were regenerating. He cursed in his mind not saying anything.
He wasn't going to yell his next plan. Which was to simply escape. He started down towards the way to Avaren. He would hope that the others would follow suit quickly. He thrusted his spear into one and pulled it out as he ran over it. His footsteps splashing heavily in the puddles of water and mud. He didn't bother even looking back to see if he was being followed. He didn't need the distraction. He slung his spear back into the leather strap that held it. He then drew out his two swords, one in each hand. These two weapons would make for faster combat as compared to his spear.

Noticing David fleeing wordlessly, Verdan swore under his breath. "Blasted coward." he muttered as a wolf threw itself at Verdan's head. Verdan noticed a familiar scorch mark in the ribcage of the creature. I definitely killed that one... he thought, his eyes widening. A sudden realization hit him. They were regenerating. At the last moment, Verdan fell to the ground, the werewolf flying by overhead. Methinks it's time to spit. "Ariadne! Run!!" he yelled aloud, signaling in the direction that David went. "I'll hold them off for a few more moments. Get out of here, now!!" he yelled before having to roll out of the way of yet another creature pouncing upon him.

Ariadne kicked a creature out of her way when she heard Verdan yelling for her to run. "No!! Im not going to leave you behind!" Ariadne yelled back at him. Ariadne looked in the direction of Verdan and sent a fireball at the creature that was going to pounce on him. She then ran over to him to help him up. "How about we run together?" Ariadne suggested
