David could feel Insidia stumble slightly. He tried to relieve her of the majority of his weight so that she wouldn't be under that much strain. Though it seemed that it still wasn't enough. Together they traversed down the dark and silent path with nothing but the sounds that the wind created and the splattering of rain to accompany them. He blinked everyonce in a while conscienously because of the water getting in his eyes or other such things. Though mostly to simply keep him conscience. He turned his gaze to look at Insidia the smaller and seemingly more frail individual than him. He shook his head slightly then turned to look down the path once again with the tree branches hanging over them.
"Let me know when you are baring to much." David spoke in a calm and relaxing voice, "This spear can serve more than one purpose you know. And a woman such as yourself doesn't need to be lifting too much weight, even if I am supporting the majority of it." After his statement he shifted more of his weight upon the spear than rather her body. He felt that he could make it without her being there. Without her presence near him or her whisper of a breathe being heard by him. But then again, he could only wonder what a woman by herself whether a warrior or mage was doing out here. He shook his mind of such thoughts as it didn't seem necessary at the time.

Although the weight of this man pressed against her, she was not one to be enslaved by it. Her breaths were deeply heavy, forcing them roughly from underneath her clinched waist. The rain was cold, its harsh temperature lowering her body's, with each drop it seemed as if an icicle were pressed to her skin. So fragile the flesh of Insidia, and so apparent she was not over worked, nor was much for combat. Still, she continued down the pathway, her blackened eyes watching as a lone bat flew past the looming branches.
"I am fine. If I were otherwise, I would say so. Do not speak that I am not strong." she replied to him, David, he called himself. Such a statement was very near an insult. His well being was far more important than any lessen of strength. "Why do you want me within your home?" she asked him, her voice etching as cold as the rain drops.
There seemed to be a glimmer of light in the far distance, with hope to be the end of the dreaded forest. With a slight trip of her ankle, her body pushed into his, nearly causing a fall, once more. Strange, it was, a second time in a failing step. These woods must make every soul uneasy, she felt. Insidia could not bring her voice to apologize for moving into him, she felt to proud after David's belittling words.
"I may have not many muscles, strong man, though I have a determined will."

David glanced downward at Insidia as she made her statement and asked her question. It wasn't a bad one either and it deserved an answer no matter what. He wasn't insulting her strength or at least he was hoping that he wasn't. He let out a sigh as they continued to walk and she stumbled once again. His spear digging into the soft ground as he helped keep her steady. His left hand now clutching onto her shoulder. He quickly relaxed his hand as he realized that she didn't need it.
"I didn't mean to insult you." David replied, "I can tell that you have your own strength. Though it is not like mine and do not think that I think of a lesser, Insidia. However, this is my body and I can carry my portion without you straining yourself. As for you staying in my house, it was an offer. By the time that we get to Avaren it will mostly be nightfall and you will probably be drenched and need some rest. There are plenty of rooms where you can sleep. However, the choice to stay or not is your own, not mine."

Nodding her head as she continued as he spoke, David's voice was strong enough to pass the wind's howl, with the shortness of breath, hers was not. The corners of her lips creased upward, she believed it was the truth, it was always a wonder to have one who would not underestimate her. His reply made her think, he seemed to be wealthy as he spoke about his home.
With her eyes looking upward, she watched the rain come downward onto her, keeping steady within her walk. So it was very wet, dreary, and this would spin the clock's hands. The citadel would still be as it is tomorrow.
"I do accept than, Sir. Under a certain condition though.." Insidia spoke to him, a formal title for a wealthy man. With a heavy inhale, and her eyes back on the path, she continued to speak, "My father is a strict man, he thinks no one is good enough to marry me. I have never been a nomad, though, lived in the same tiny home my whole life, working for him on his plantation. He said that it were not ladylike for his daughter to hold a sword...so I never did. I was taught what he wanted to teach and followed by it like it were law. When I am not working, I study the rare magic, it takes a lot of time, he is a harsh man, ever since my mother...dissapeared. He would have my head, truly he would, if I sleep in a married man's home, would you be married?" she asked him, for the sake of her life "I speak truth! He would have me killed, he would be the executor!"

David listened to her plead as they walked through the forest. The rain still falling and the wind continuing to blow hard enough to cause the trees to sway. His blue eyes staying on the path infront of them as they neared the exit of the forest that would lead towards the city known as Avaren. He nodded his head at certain times as she spoke acknowledging that he heard her words. He eventually stopped for a moment in what looked liked he needed to catch his breath.
David turned his head and looked down at Insidia. His calm blue eyes, dispite his condition, examined her for the moment. He could tell that she wasn't lying. Her voice also expressed the fear and anxiety of what she spoke to be true. He nodded his head once more before speaking. "I can assure you, Lady Insidia, that I am not a married man." David spoke to her, "In fact, if I was a married man, I don't think that I would be in this condition."

Stopping along with him, Insidia shut her eyes and regained her own breaths, inhaling the wind. mother nature's own exhales. Her eyes re-opened to the weeping branches that were about to come down and scratch her, their long wooden arms and skinny twigs. The sounds of nature now were threatening and bleak, she had been taught not to fear the dark and it's tricks. Her arm shifted underneath David's and pushed more against his back, holding him upward, her frail strength pushing its limit without adrenaline.
"Oh, so fortunate." she replied after listening to his response "He's even wanted for arrest from years ago, he's assaulted many men in public who thought they could marry me, anyone who spoke the thought and their man was never good enough. I suppose being the first and only born and without my mother he has gone a bit mad, and perhaps a little attached." Insidia added and glanced at her companion, then back at the path.
She coughed, her throat being caught by her hand as it throbbed against her palm. If only this forest could make time go faster, it seemed to slow it down, retract the minutes and make them longer. The path seemed closer only a moment ago, now to seem farther, optical illusions from the trees it had to be.

David heard her remark and continued to walk along with her. His left arm around her shoulders as they walked and her arms around him. His right hand gripping his spear as a walking stick moving it ahead of him before every couple of steps that he took. The various trees of the forest were beginning to become more sparse signalling that the wooded area was fixing to come to a close and then there would be open land for a mile or two and then the large warrior city of Avaren. If they were lucky, which was highly unlikely, there'd might be someone to see them and give them a ride back to the city and probably his home. However, that was highly unlikely.
His blue eyes turned to look at Insidia. "You're father could be the most wanted criminal in the world, and it wouldn't fear me." he told her, "If he comes for me, I will defend myself even if it means killing him. I only hope that it doesn't come down to that. I've fought my share of wars and battles. I don't like fighting, but I'm striving to be the best dragoon that there is and ever will be. I plan on succeeding and all I need is to keep up the best that I can do. If he does engage me to the death, I will not hesitate to strike him down. I only ask that when that time comes that you do not try to intervene."

Listening as she kept walking, her inner thighs began to feel the strain, she had been walking for so long, so much time, so much distance, it began to take its tole, a sensation like a kindled flame. His words distracted her from her mind's want to cease their journey, his words painful, but comforting. Insidia took a deep breath before speaking, considering the words, if they were right to speak, fair to, perhaps even sane to. Dishonoring thy parents was always shunned upon, most strangers would strike at another for such acts and statements.
"My father is unworthy to live. Though I am at fault. I have thought of destroying the monster I have created, though, it is his heart that has broken, it may be more so if the last he saw were myself against him. He means to protect me, though his mind is far more deceptive to its own self than any other person could be. Hes been corrupted, the least I could do is allow him to be as he is. I...suppose..."
Staring nowhere but down, she bared not to see David's eyes, they may disown her, now. A shame that would be at this time, and maybe a little emotionally uneasy. She had helped him this far, gone this much from her way, if she were to be left alone now it would be highly unfortunate, as well as him having to stagger alone to his home.

David didn't have anything else to say despite what she had said. Or at least he couldn't think of anything to say at the moment. He continued to walk with Insidia as the rain continued to fall and send chills up and down his skin. His blue eyes heavy with exhaustion even with Insidia's help. He would eventually tire out and need rest. His own muscles were practically screaming with pain, but he pushed on. It was here that he decided that it would be best to rest before going beyond the forest and towards the final stretch. He continued to walk keeping his eyes ahead of him and telling himself that it was only a few more feet away even though it seemed longer than that.
Eventually, the last tree of the woods was where they were at. After it where the plains that stretched to the kingdom of Avaren. His home was there and he'd wish that he could be there now. However, he wasn't going to be making it this night. He needed to rest for at least a few minutes. The rain had calmed down somewhat and it was lightly sprinkling now though the sky was still dark and gloomy. He stopped Insidia for a moment and looked down at her. "Let's rest for a bit." he suggested nodding his head towards a nearby tree. He took himself away from her gentle touch and walked all the way there before he turned around and practically feel on his bottom. He sat up against the tree breathing hard, but keeping a calm posture about it.

Nodding to the suggestion of resting, she with ease let go of David, walking herself close by, standing beside him, leaning her back against the tree. Insidia looked up at the sky, watching the rain again, the energy of the moment seemed not change with her words, to much of her relief.
"Your eyes.." she said, speaking gently
Her own sought downward, trying to catch just another glimpse. It had always been someone's eyes that told her the most about a person, always the most fascinating to see. It was always rude to stare, so she was taught, only a second or two she could observe of David's eyes.
"The color is..very radiant, bright. But..deeper, I see...your soul." Her comment was simple enough, or perhaps too simple.
A sigh fell from her chest, out through her lips. Her lashes touched, her eyes closing, letting the rain fall more against her, dampening her hair and clothes. It felt as if she could just lie down against the deep soil and rest asleep, her body so worn and her muscles weak, even her eyes wished to stay closed, as it was an effort to be open.

David glanced up at Insidia as she had spoken and looked at his eyes. He thought about what she was thinking and then heard what she had said. He didn't bother to say anything else seeing as she had seen something within him. He didn't really understand about the seeing his soul and all, but he knew that this eyes were radiant and bright. In fact, that's what usually gave him such a calm disposition. It made it difficult to tell whether he was frightened for his life or calmer than person that was deep in thought over nothing. He looked down towards the ground stretching out his right leg as he pulled his left leg closer towards him. He rested his left arm on his left knee hand rested his chin upon the arm. He took several breathes allowing his muscles to rest until they stopped aching.
Several minutes had passed, before David had rested enough to walk the rest of the way to Avaren. He slowly rose to his two feet on his own and only using the spear that was in his right hand to lift himself up. Soon he was yet again more than a head taller than Insidia and he glanced down towards her. "Thank you for the compliment." he spoke kindly towards Insidia, "I hope you had gained enough rest. So let's be on our way to Avaren. It's only a short distance away from here." He then began to walk using his spear as a walking stick to get back on the path and slowly start walking towards Avaren whether Insidia was following with him or not.

Basking in the serene quietness, a rare sense of calm was able to be felt. The wind through the tree branches that moved slowly along with it, the leaves shifting, the rain dropping down, all was very somber, like a song to put someone to sleep. Insidia's wicked, blackened, eyes stared into the light ahead, the city it were to lead was a foreign land to her, another new area to become acquainted with. She began to wonder about the humans who populated the area, she had heart stories, rumors, legends and tales. Perhaps there would be people who would care for her, who could keep her there, away from her father, the man who tormented her, brought her agony and shaped her very existence. She then realized she could never abandon him, his own madness was her fault, if she were not such a foolish child. He meant for her well being, for her to be safe, and cared for, to prosper better than he.
"I feel alright." she replied, her thoughts ended at his words
Cutting off her thoughts, it had to be done, now was never the time to brood, there would be no excuse. A near sigh fell from her chest as the man before her began to walk by himself, away from her without her arm. An effort was made to not see it as an insult, Insidia rolled her eyes and followed. There was silence between them, one that she felt was strange.
"You feel more well?" She asked, unflinching, continuing flawless in her long strides, her right hand grabbing the side of her dress, holding it up, so it might not drag onto the ground.

David glanced towards Insidia as she was walking by him. Her strides were flawless and he saw how she carried herself and heard her question. As they continued to walk he thought on it but didn't give an answer right away. It was difficult to explain. His muscles had regained some strength but it was still painful to walk like this. However, he did it to hopefully reach Avaren quicker. He then shifted his gaze forward as if to still be in thought about the answer that he should give Insidia.
The wind blew slightly causing his cape and the tail from his head piece to flap some as they walked. The white clothe followed the wind with ease while tugging at the portions that attached themselves to David's body. Avaren was very much in the distance now, though it would be some time before they would reach it. Only the outerwalls and the large gate could be seen from where they were standing at the time. Maybe even the castle that was further back. "I'm doing somewhat better." David finally gave Insidia his answer, "Thank you for your concern."

With the quiet walk and no response, she continued on, concentrating of whats ahead, her thoughts beginning to wander once again into a deep subject. Her life had gone wrong because of her choices and her own actions. It seemed she went through life with mixed movement, a contradiction every way. She remembered her mother, how she would smile, how she would teach her magics, a loving, and very healthy woman she was.
"Wh-" nearly missing his statement, she stuttered "Oh,oh, thats good to hear, truly."
Insidia smiled toward him, she now had caught up to his pace. She muttered a groan, noticing the bottom of her dress had already caught the ground and filthied it. With an irritated drop of the material, she let it fall and continue to whisk over the ground, it would be no use keeping it from harm's way if harm had been done.
"I do hope I won't become a burden." she said courteously, and added; "If you like, I could wash your dishes or clean your floors, Sir."

"Don't worry." David replied as he heard Insidia's statement and proposal, "You haven't been a burden yet, nor do I think that you'll become one. If you feel that you need to wash the dishes and clean the floors then go ahead, but I will not stop you from doing such things nor will I tell you to do anything. Because Insidia, you are a guest." His gaze feel upon Insidia as he spoke to her. He stumbled slightly from not watching where he was walking and feel to one knee. His hand gripping the spear tightly as he brought himself up. He didn't want Insidia to think that he was too injured to walk. Call it foolish pride, but he didn't want to strain Insidia anymore than what she could take.
"Don't worry about me." he told her before she could ask, "I'll be fine and Avaren is only a short dist..." His sentence was unfinished as a shot of pain ran through his body causing him to fall to the ground completely this time. His eyes seemingly to almost fade out completely from the pain at that moment. His whole body was under a large amount of stress from traveling in this condition and it decided to break on him now. It was just fitting to end up like this. His eyes regaining their color as he looked up to see Insidia above him.
