What Awaits

[Ariadne]

Ariadne thought for awhile...but not too long of a while. "Ill do my best. But if I do that I have to let go of the line". Ariadne told him as she stood up.She looked atShadow for assurance.

[Shadow]

Shadow nodded. "I am braced, but it is only temporary. No rush or anything... but if it dosent work, then Im gonna either go flying backwards when you cut the line for me, or go into the lake." He gritted his teeth and pulled the line again. "whatever it is.... It's big.... humongous..." He laughed as an idea crossed his mind. "Ariadne, I think we have hooked the guardian of the lake!" His laughter marked the comment as humor and sarcasm.

[Ariadne]

Ariadne nodded as she let go of the line. And closed her eyes to concentrate and her hands started glowing as she raised her hands in the air. As she did so a large body of water went up with her. The fish inside the body of water. The water was to heavy for Ariadne to sustain. Ariadne fell to her knees. Water falling to the gorund. instead of just bringing the water around the fish she brong the fish and the water. "Grab the fish." Ariadne told Shadow through gritted teeth.

[Shadow]

Shadow stood there, stunned. he cut the line as fell to his knees. "open your eyes before I send it back into the lake. it is an amazing... whatever it is..." He looked at the enourmous creature, stunned "I think we actually managed to catch the protector of the lake..." shadow bowed his head in reverence. It was an amazing blue, with almost bubble designs patterend on its skin. The creature was at least as long as Shadow was tall, and it sparkled in the dim light.

[Ariadne]

Ariadne opened her eys. but as she did this and had a glimpsed of the creature she lost her concetration causing water to go everywhere and making the creature to fall to land. But instead of the water creature to gasp for water. It just layed there. Unaffected by the fact that he wasnt in water anymore. As Ariadne looked the creature more intently it was beatiful. The creature had a glow of its own. It was really big. "No wonder I couldnt hold that much." Ariadne thought.

[Shadow]

Shadow nodded. "and there is no more mystery as to why i couldnt reel it in." he looked the guardian over. "It's simply amazing... it looks like more of an amphibian... what with it's appendages and all." he walked closer, slowly, with his hands palm outward. the creature nodded its head, and shadow sank to one knee. Hands shaking, he reached out and touched the creature's crownal fin. "its amazing... feels nothing like a water dwelling creature... almost feels like it has human skin..." he stared, transfixed, into the creature's eyes. Shaking his head, he motioned to ariadne. "come on over, just show it that you have nothing that will bring harm."

[Ariadne]

Ariadne nodded. "I agree." Ariadne got up slowly and walked over to the creature. She then kneeled down and stretched out her hand to feel the guardians skin. Her hand was rather shaky since she ddnt know what would be the reaction of it. Ariadnes hand skimmed the guardians crownal fin. "Its really soft." Ariadne commented.

[Shadow]

Shadow nodded. "yeah... it is..." he shook hia head. "I think we should throw it back into the lake. dont know how long it can breathe air instead of water." he stood u and scratched his head in confusion. "now... how to move it... he knelt down next to the fish. "I know you can hear me. the water is that way"Shadow pointed to the water's edge. "And we cannot lift you. you need to pull yourself over to the water, we will help, but we cannot do much." he stood up and looked at ariadne. "as the protector of the lake, it should be able to undestand me." He shrugged as the creature showed no sign of comprehension. "or, maybe it cant..."

[Ariadne]

"Yeah..It has a duty to protect the lake and we shouldnt interfere with it." Ariadne laughed as she saw Shadow talking to the fish. "I dont think that would work, Shadow.....How about we bribe it?" Ariadne then started looking around. "Wheres the minnow?" Ariadne asked Shadow. she then saw it and grabbed it. "Nevermind". She walked in front of the fish and waved the minnow in front of its face. "If you want it come and get it." Airadne told the guardian. The guardian started taking small steps. "Ariadne smiled and looked at Shadow. "Its working.". The guardian started walkng faster and faster so Ariadne threw the minnow in the lake. And the guardian jumped right after.

[Shadow]

Shadow laughed. "it must have been male." shaking his head, he shrugged. "Well, now I can boast that we caught the guardian of the lake, and..." he broke off as he saw the lake glow orange. "ummm... maybe that wasn't the guardian... " he swallowed uncertainly. "Great.... it probably was a Water Demon..." he shook his head. "Nah, cant be, It didn't attack us..." he smiled at ariadne. "that was really cool, what you did with the water."

[Ariadne]

Ariadne laughed. "Just accept defeat." Ariadne told him. Ariadne listened as Shadow spoke, but then he stooped and Ariadne turned to look at him but he was looking at the lake and the orange glow that was coming from it. Ariadne shrugged. "It was a really nice water demon then..He let us pet it." Ariadne assured him. Ariadne smiled as she looked to the floor. "Thanks" Ariadne said shyly.

[Shadow]

It was shadow's turn to laugh. "no problem. But I dont think im gonna go swimming for a little while... at least no tuntill the lake stops glowing." He stuck out his tounge at ariadne. In a mock serious voice, he thrust his finger into the air. "I will never accept defeat! Never!" He couldnt hold the seriousness, and bust into laughter. when he calmed down, he looked up at ariadne. "so, what do you want to do?"

[Ariadne]

Ariadne laughed as Shadow was trying to be sriousness but he couldnt. Ariandne shrugged. "I dont know...What do you want to do?" Ariadne asked Shadow as she turned to look at Shadow. "Like you said before..Im down for anything." Ariadne told him.

[Shadow]

Shadow yawned, and layed back. "well, I am getting tired..." he blinked sleepily. "Do you mind if i fall asleep? ill try not to, and if something arises, and i have fallen asleep, wake me immeatiately please." He rolled up his cloak, and it created a long pillow, the size of the cloak.
Laying his head on it, he looked up at the sky and sighed. "the stars sure are bright tonight..." With that, his eyelids drooped closed, and he fell asleep.

[Ariadne]

Ariadne just layed there she then heard Shadow say something about how tired he was. Ariadne turned to look at him and nodded. "Sure Ill wake you up. And if anything does arise well then youll here me screaming like mad." Ariadne said. She then looked up at the stars and Shadow commented on them. She turned to tell him "yeah they are shining bright tonight." But he had already went to sleep peacefully.
